Have you lost faith?

Anybody listening to an MBV album in the hope of it sounding like BoC is never going to "get it".
BoC are influenced by MBV, which is not to say they sound like them.
Anybody who was a fan of MBV anyway will like the new album, or they'll have gone off them in general. I for one think the new album is great. It sounds like an MBV album, like it's supposed to.

I don't think "anybody" is fair. I like loveless but I don't really enjoy their new album at all. Also I can definitely see their influence on BoC with the wavering walls of sound and tone and texture and I did find out about MBV through BoC. But yes, they're two entirely different artists.GH wrote:Anybody listening to an MBV album in the hope of it sounding like BoC is never going to "get it".

Yeah, to be fair, I was responding more specifically to thepastisinthepresent's post:TaoTapeTao wrote:I don't think "anybody" is fair. I like loveless but I don't really enjoy their new album at all. I still think, as a fan, that it's almost on a par with loveless. It's at least in the same ball park, and Loveless was so good at the time that it remains one of my all time faves, so anything that reaches the same ball park is going to rate very highly.thepastinsidepressant wrote: i don't get it either, it can be easy to trip up over hype and believe it.
i don't hear ANY boc in mbv's sound so i don't get what the references are apart from
the 2 brothers name dropping them. theres lo-fi guitars on there? no shit sherlock!

never put werds in someones mouth...and never try to speculate on what someone is thinking....ArbitersGround wrote:Haven't posted here in a while. Just wondering how strong would you guys say your faith is that new BoC is still to come?
During the whole black box thing I was pretty hopeful. A few months after, I thought it'd just be a longer wait than expected, but stuff is still to come.
Now, while I feel like it's still possible, but very unlikely. My river of hope has turned to a small trickle down a rock.
I do think there's a strong possibility that the Sandison's still do music and maybe release it under aliases, but regardless I think they don't want to be known anymore.
you can NEVER know.
it is what it is
