Just thinking about some of the above posts and now I think about it I've even avoided drinking too much at the last few gigs I've been to - I deliberately curbed my drinking for MBV - mainly so I didn't run the risk of needing a pee in the middle of Soon. And the last gig before that - Spiritualized - I met my dad for a coffee beforehand. Mind you, for that gig I also remember making a point of wearing my glasses so I could see properly and a cardigan "in case it was chilly". 30-something business.

I don't have that view but I've never really taken anything with the intent of listening to BoC after.
I don't think you need drugs to appreciate music.

I just know that drugs can help some people, myself included, to appreciate that music even more.

Could it be perhaps that you are using the wrong drug? Could it be perhaps that using another drug then going out into the same country settings and listening to the same music could make it even more profound?
