I didn't ignore it. I wasn't able to be there.

If you were not there then you didn't ignore their wishes by posting it. :)

I'm a bit jealous to be honest. As a European I feel kind of left out by this whole marketing jazz. But no hard feelings. June 10 can't come soon enough.

5 tracks leaked is enough from me. Most albums are lucky to have 3 singles. These are enough for me to pick apart over the next 12 days.

It was awfully nice of the band and Warp to invite the general public to listen to an unreleased album.

It was awfully respectful of those who did document the event to only put up the first three songs.

It was awfully rude for those who did document the whole thing to put up the whole thing, against their reasonable request not to. You were invited, after all. Would you let yourself upstairs were you invited to a house party with a strict rule to stay downstairs? No, because that would be rude.

For the OP and similar fans, seems like it isn't unreasonable to have access to the whole thing AFTER the album comes out. But just because you can't hear it now isn't a reason to over-rule the band's request. Be Patient!

To say the band would just assume people would record and post the whole thing sort of ruins the trust they hoped for from fans that respect the band and the huge favor they're doing by hosting an event of this nature.

How I see it, a lot of people believe that the "as is Boards of Canada's wish" guy at Lake Dolores represents Warp Records rather than the band.

There's really no difference.

I think having an archive is great, definitely love that. But let it happen *after* the album has come out. I would love to give the desert listening party recording a listen once I'm familiar with the official album release enough just to appreciate how it was sounding at that event.

why do they have staggered release dates that create the early leak problems?

I definitely agree about the sentiment of waiting till the official release to wait to "leak" the whole event. But the issue is in the number of people afraid to document the entire event because of the imposed restrictions. We end up with beautiful footage like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation ... 6G8gViaoVg

That is purposefully cut off after 3 tunes and we'll never be able to see the entire event in that visual quality. There's something special about hearing and seeing fans reactions to the music after hearing it for the first time. That's a small but sometimes important historical element that I love to document. As it stands now, that information doesn't exist in the live, real-time moment. Not to mention there's something strangely appealing in listening to BoC tunes with ambient background noise in the background :)

Looking back now at the Geogaddi listening parties in churches, the only thing I'd want to experience in terms of that is actually being there. The pictures of it are pretty cool as well, I guess, but that's about it.

"leaked" stuff is something I try and stay away from for 2 reasons:

1) I'd feel just as wrong as the person who took advantage of a one off situation by downloading it myself.

2) I dont want to ruin that buzz of hearing the doorbell go and knowing it's the album and then opening the package and dropping the needle into that first groove and hearing the start of something new and for myself unheard :)

I think it's a little weird that those complete recordings haven't circulated past YouTube. Seems to me that they were up long enough that someone could have snagged them and started sharing them elsewhere.

I'm not saying I wanted this to happen (Truly, I'm glad it hasn't...) Just struck me as a little odd because I was half expecting that to happen next.
