It doesn't get much better than SAWv1 apart from the track green calx. He pushed boundaries early on and set the tone for everybody else to follow. SAWv2 has some sublime moments. "I Care Because You Do" has some great moments too. Some of his eps and remixes are really worth seeking out. If you can separate the wheat from the chaff then you are left with the genius that is Mr James.

Love the remix he did for The Gentle People

Man, I love Green Calx. It's odd, the distaste for this track.

I think the distaste is mostly because of it not fitting in with the other tracks? I dunno though, I love it too.

Possibly.

I just think it's one of the best tracks on SAW I personally. That fucking machinery ambience, man.

Funny, Girl/Boy Song is to me one of the highlights of James's catalog. I love that track.

My go to albums are Surfing on Sine Waves & Analogue Bubblebath 3, but the rest is pretty awesome too. I love Aphex's stuff more than BoC's truth be told :)

Having just listened to Drukqs again yesterday in a long time, I'd say for me at least the biggest problem is its inconsistency. The real tracks like Vordhosbn and Saint Michel are mostly ace stuff, but I hate the joke bits. They're just shit, and really break the flow in a way that the album never seems to set off properly.

Orban Eq Trx4, Lornaderek, QKThr, etc.

Most of the interludes really. It's a 1h40min album and there's 30 minutes of this stuff (checked). 18 out of 30 tracks are around 2 minutes or less.

Avril 14th is wonderful though. :P

Edit: or well, I don't think QKThr is bad actually, but it feels jokey here.

Drukqs slays

Some of those tunes are insane. I agree some of the tracks are not so good but overtime I just ignore them and don't let it bug me.

Avril 14th is the only Track I like from drukgs. The rest just sounds like skiffle and haven't felt any of his material since sadly as he's still probably my favourite producer. Live he's defo worth catching.
