The end of 84 Pontiac Dream; at 3:23-24 there's a honking car horn.
Honk; Honk-honk
If I am driving while I'm listening I will try to time the honks on my horn.

One of my favorite samples is that garbled speech about concentration camps in the background of Split Your Infinities. Also, in The Color of the Fire: "Hmm hmm hmmmmm I...Love...You!". The electric metal screeching noise in Alpha and Omega at about 3:34 is pretty cool too.

The child's voice and how it gets all sped up and slowed down in An Eagle In Your Mind
"If you go down to the woods today, you'd better not go alone!" -A is to B as B is to C
"1, 2, 3 , 4" -'84 Pontiac Dream
The singing female voice in Peacock Tail
That genius use of cellphone interference used in New Seeds
And, my all time favorite: "That tiny room at the beach was absolutely the perfect place for my first time. When we came together, I could feel the hairs growing on my chest. I saw my future. I saw my past. For a few minutes it was like being alive. They lived happily ever after. All my questions had been answered. All my fears disappeared. All that was left was a kiss. Every move we made was a kissssssssss." -From Sixtyniner

The woman's voice saying '1, 2, 3... and 4!' on track 8 of Warp 10th anniversary party. Happens at 7:10 mins in, love it...

I love that sample also. Heck, I love that whole track so much. Makes me so sad knowing we'll likely never hear it in studio qualityShizuka Rizumu wrote:The woman's voice saying '1, 2, 3... and 4!' on track 8 of Warp 10th anniversary party. Happens at 7:10 mins in, love it...

The sampled speech in Eagle in Your Mind just under the surface, sorry for the boring answer

You mean that one?the holts are nearly always close to the sea
in fallen boulders, old ruins, and cliffs
all at the top of a stack, like this
high above the sea
a safe place for cubs
I wait, tense
then disappointed
she leaves her spraint to notify others of her visit
the holts are evenly spaced
about 500 yards apart, [enough for the use of any otter who passes by?], with or without cubs

Definitely the choir sample that forms the motif of 5d and Seven Forty Seven. I prefer the 5d version, though, just by a bit.

The talking in Alpha and Omega fading into the song
The looped synth and noise ending Split Your Infinities
The sampler crunched thirds at the end of AEIYM
The lo-fi drone at the end of Sixtyten

WHOA. WHAT. That's one of my new favorite samples now.Aerial Boundaries wrote:Nope, that's a different one. The one I mentioned starts at 2:30 and loops right till the end and is buried low in the mix. Lower than "you might be dead" (which imo is very present). It is hard to notice until you get it, because they fit it so well with the track. It is very melodic.747Music wrote:I think the voice you mentioned says: "You might be dead", not "It's not that bad".Aerial Boundaries wrote:In Dawn Chorus, a haunting melodic voice repeating "It's not that bad..." for the second half of the song. I actually wonder if most of us notice that one? It seemed so obvious once I heard it, but it took me years.
Not to sound stereotypical, but it really blew my mind when I first heard it. It all seems so obvious after the fact.

Haha!
I introduced Rodheh to my interpretation of that sample during the event and it seems to be serendipitously spreading.
And yes, it is one of my favourites still.

- vocal chops in Telephasic Werksop
- "but you may be dead....you may be dead" in Dawn Chorus. [first time i noticed it i was on the verge of sleep, my ears caught that, i was in a state that when hearing that it scared the fuck out of me]
- the ULTRA slowed down Vox that sounds like creaking windy wood in Diving Station
- the crackly shit in Trapped [the MASK200 version]
- vocal samples in Dirty Great Mable

I can hear that, but not the obviously more famous "you may be dead". Weird.Aerial Boundaries wrote:Haha!
