Don't think so, otherwise the guy who wrote 4'33" would probably get pissed and come after them.

John Cage is dead, and he wasn't the first to make a silent piece of music. He was just the first to feel accomplished for it.

Why did I not see the fnord until now?
I knew it was a familiar word...

I think we've devolved into that thing where we hunt for details that aren't there which seemed to get under the brothers' skin around the Geogaddi era that caused them to make Campfire.

"Life" was a lot different before smart phones came in the "picture". I think Boards of Canada are genius for keeping such a low profile online. Maybe, it's time for some of us to follow their lead, and go outside.

If they wanted us to go outside so much, why have they relied on us for 2 decades to buy product that can only be used inside?
If they really wanted to actively endorse that viewpoint, they would have stopped releasing vinyl.
BOC are full of it just like any other band / music act. It's called PR.
I reckon BOC are taken way too seriously.

The truth probably lies between the two extremes.
I think the cocesha thing was literally just for aesthetic oui.
I don't think they are 'full of it' but i understand your frstration at this point.
I believe their records have deeper meanings but maybe people are looking in the wrong places.

I think most of the people on this forum are familiar with the frustration of searching for signs of impending releases or secrets in BoC songs, not least after the TH release campaign.
My 'pet' theory is that there is something more to the Cold Earth 'yelps'. I believe attempts to decipher a 36 digit code from this track have been in vain, and that even sound experts have discounted the possibility (although I am not 100 % convinced). I also think people who hacked into Cosecha-transmissiones have dismissed room for another 36 digit code on this site.
However, Cosecha-transmissiones is still out there. I wouldn't be surprised if some day, an 'alternate' version of Cold Earth emerges (e.g similar to the sudden replacing of Julie and Candy at the top of their Youtube channel), possibly only differing the 'yelps' being more audible, and that entry of a 36 digit code on a (updated) Cosecha-transmissiones would yield a promo of something new, e.g. an EP.
Anyway, just more speculation but I've always found this Cold Earth thing a bit suspicuous. Cold Earth also leaked during the release campaign through a Squarepusher gig, and Warp was quite quick to have it removed from Youtube, most likely due to copyright issues, but could it also be that there is something in this track that would 'interfere' with a pre-planned sequence of event?

HAHA especially since I think it was said by MDG that the brothers mostly just sit in their studio
There's really nothing magical about BoC, they're just a regular band. Overinterpretation is also a thing

Cold Earth - That's an easy one.
Cosecha - Spanish for Harvest.
What I mean by outside is, just be careful online. Next time you are at concert, a shopping mall or a crowded area, take notice, and look at how many folks are stuck inside technology instead of the outside world around them. It's tragic!

Boards of Canada are cool cats. I don't know them personally, however one thing that has always stuck out like a sore thumb...In every single photograph, they are outdoors. I imagine during the evolving of songs we get to hear, yes they are indoors for most of the process, but they also record outside. They definitely don't just sit around. They are grown ups. They travel, enjoy family, enjoy friends, enjoy art, and enjoy privacy. Totally normal in my opinion.
