I thought he just took something that was out there and started making videos and creating a whole story with his own lore and people really loved it. He never claimed to have started it, to my knowledge anyway. Other people are still doing their own thing with it, right?

His videos aren’t the problem, neither the story, but the repercussions that came from the video getting REALLY viral.

The at the time niche backrooms community exploded in popularity, thus introducing more creative people into it and expanding the backrooms mythos (the backrooms origin from around 2019 was an urban legend/copypasta from 4chan)

However, when something becomes popular, people are willing to cash in (famous examples: Friday Night Funkin, Sprunki, The Amazing Digital Circus, you name it) and one of those victims was the backrooms, and so we get some low quality slop that was made around that time such as the infamous “Backrooms Slide” videos.

It got so bad that most of the people quit, or stopped caring, the backrooms community still exists, but it’s barely hanging on.

That's a helpful explanation, mGardener. Thank you.

I randomly skipped ahead ~20 minutes and they're already going in on the transphobia, great  . I'm not gonna sit through any more of this to determine if it's worth reporting or not.

Jesus yeah, I can see the guy on the right of the screen is a bit uncomfortable, but that's not enough, letting his podcast buddy go on with his awful tirade. :|

Discovering randytaylor69's early internet webcam comedy was a revelation for me, she's a fantastic talent.

I had already heard his comments about Hilter. While wrong about Hitler, but technically correct about the books the Deutsche Studentenschaft burned and who performed the first transgender surgery, I knew this wouldn't go down well here. Hence, this will not end well.

Josh wrote:Has anyone mentioned Kane Pixels yet? He's the whiz-kid digital video movie maker who took the whole "backrooms" thing to a whole new level and is now making a feature film.

His stuff is amazing and genuinely scary.

I haven't seen the movie, but someone on reddit claims "The Word Becomes Flesh" is played during the end credits. Didn't have that on my bingo card.

The Mystorian has been a recent big fave of mine https://www.youtube.com/@the_mystorian

I like his accent and I like the way he gets all animated about things, I like how there's pictures of subscribers' pets in every video, I like how animal cruelty pisses him off to a special degree. I could watch hours of his stuff.
