It sounds like them, but I find it very hard to believe that they would do a whole self-pressing on vinyl. everything else that has been confirmed from back then has all been cassettes (old tunes and box maxima), so why would this get a vinyl pressing, especially given the extremely limited number of people they were handing these early works to?
if this was done the exact same way but with a tape deck instead of a turntable I'd be a 100% believer in it

Bocpages mentions a 12” release of Hooper Bay, FWIW.

Also, a tape is considerably easier to fake. There'd be far less flies caught in the web right now.

Can someone help clarify the timeline of events?
From what I can gather, babylulu found the original video of the circle recording, but was the uploader trying to add the album to discogs slightly before babylulu found the video?

Loughly submitted Hooper Bay to Discogs (
https://www.discogs.com/release/2681137 ... Hooper-Bay) with shoddy pictures of the cover and front label, was asked for proof, posted a video of Circle, then posted the full rip today. People only know about this because of this now-delisted Discogs entry.

To me it looks like we're finally getting the boxset of old material. The fact that this was uploaded on the day MHTRTC turns 25 is too coincidental to take it at face value. It's probable we are hearing an actual vinyl from the boxset and not a pressing made 30 years ago. The pioneer plaque (the original one) explained where the spacecrafts came from, and the BoC plaque has the same objetive, to show how the project started. They uploaded the plaque to signal they had completed the job of gathering all the recordings, and now finally we're about to get the product.

I honestly think this is just some clueless former acquaintance of the band who didn't really know what he had. The account was made a week ago and gradually added things to its collection including some obscure Edinburgh band tapes from around the same time and a lot of dance music. He even added an original Twoism pressing shortly before submitting Hooper Bay, I think he literally just went through his collection in shelf order and realized he had something missing from the page.
Now that I think about it it's a very similar situation to electricluddite (the BoC Remii guy.)

And on WATMM, hand waving disregard that it could possibly be real lol

lets face it... the boys love 4/20. MHTRTC was released on 4/20 25 years ago. And then 10 years ago on RSD they released the 6 transmissions record unveiling the release of TH. Something is brewing we all know it

Beerwolf and Co are quite slow on the uptake. Slackers. We can always call Miley Cyrus when it hits like a wrecking ball!
Well, I will add this is an example of an impending forum bants war. Please help me, by leaving them to their own devices.

The timing is really suspicious for sure. I'm convinced the music is legitimate but less convinced we're listening to a 30 year old pressing. With the camcorder, 4/20, MHTRTC anniversary, the shininess of the record, this could be a winking joke by the bros.

While I still put this as a high 90-something % chance of being yet another fake, I have to admit it has me more intrigued than anything BoC related in a very long time.
However, "James Loughton", who appears to be comfortable using his actual name, has managed to not leave a single trace on the internet of his existence. Highly unusual that...

This is basically what happened in 2013 with All Lights Fucked On The Hairy Amp Drooling, some clueless dude who somehow got handed a copy years ago and didn't think much of it just randomly found out one day that it's actually a rare find. At least in this case (if it's for real) the dude uploaded the whole thing, even if it's potato quality!
Also
this famous interview that gives us the only official description of Hooper Bay said that "People pay small fortunes for copies", and this was published one year after MHTRTC. If any pre-Twoism release were the likeliest candidate to randomly show up on the internet I think it's this one. Also, could Noatak be the track they're referring to with "the use of kids' voices was a hint of what was to come"? I don't hear any other possible samples of that type anywhere else on the record. I'm torn on whether the music itself is legit or not, if it's an imitation then it's a really good imitation.
What I'm interested in seeing at this moment above all else is the back of the sleeve, that would go a long way towards confirming/denying the authenticity of this thing.

There are definitely voice samples on Point Hope, and the first few seconds of the album is a manipulated voice too

here's something
a comment on the Hooper Bay leak from what sounds to be an acquaintance of the band. possibly bullshitting, using Scottish slang. at this point, who knows

this bloke posted this comment and since has been editing it to sound as believably scottish as possible.
to me it's blatantly a random guy pretending to be a friend of the band, googling scottish slang words as he edits the comment
