Brit here, I wouldn't prefer or could even say on who should be in power. Republicans have some downright barmy views, and the Democrats are a financially corrupt party, so couldn't side on either (I wouldn't mind being educated though).

Sorry, I meant to quote this from the beginning, but this is a very good take imo.

Also if you want, (if you haven't seen it yet) I highly recommend you check out Adam Curtis's documentary Hypernormalisation. It delves deep into why we are where we are in the world. It's a BBC doc and Boards of Canada is in the soundtrack which is a bonus. Overall the soundtrack is fantastic also.

I watched HyperNormalisation on BBC Four a good while back, so I'm familiar. BoC wasn't much of a selling point as I was already re-inacting the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing gif when it was on. This reminds me, I must give it another go!
Completely right in every respect, it has tremendous thinking power.

Glad ya'll dig it! I'm being a bit self depricating, but it is true, none of my friends in my main friend group have watched or looked into Adam Curtis so it's nice to connect with ya'll on that! He's a great modern thinker. His way of editing and matching up material with his documentaries is pretty refreshing. Also I'm sorry if I've turned this into an Adam Curtis appreciation thread. I don't mean to take away from the discourse from other posters.

I was really trying to understand what he’s talking about for the first 15minutes, then I realised this is a bbc documentary. And it all made sense

What does that sentence mean? What are you trying to say about BBC?

Tbh.. that is kind of a huge self report. You understand that Boards of Canada has made music for BBC in the past, as well as promoted the Tomorrow's Harvest ARG through BBC..

Your observation means you didn't actually watch it or get an intake on any info from it, so you can't really form a valid opinion on it, and you didn't even get enough out of it to give valid criticism beyond a vague blanket statement.

You can't think critically about things if you don't even accept anything that might challenge your ideals, let alone just dismiss it altogether because you arrive at assumptions that might be premature. I'm being honest, this is not how you keep an open mind.

In Adam Curtis's own words, "Rather than face up to the complexities of the world, instead they retreated."

Lastly, in case you would consider it, Adam Curtis regularly criticises BBC in many of his pieces.

BBC is a western propaganda media, btw your documentary film starts about world going to shit with leaders like Putin and Trump, I’m not going to dwell on that.

And overall that British accent narration reminds me of Terrence and pillippe from South park, it’s somewhere between boring and cringy.

You'd be happy to know that Adam Curtis criticizes BBC and several western / liberal leaning media outlets in his documentaries, and is very critical of media overall, so your point about western propaganda is moot. It's a nothingburger.

And if you actually listened, Adam Curtis criticizes the western media's handling of Donald Trump and left leaning reactions to him.

Your last point is frankly, a "just because," point, that doesn't really matter or make any argument at all. I love South Park btw. Saying something is boring and cringey is just another excuse you're using to avoid actually thinking critically about the world and its history. You are literally saying "lol cringe cuz british."

I just keep hearing excuses from you

By the way, I respect BOC and their music, but that doesn’t mean I should follow every move they make.

If they did relationship business with bbc in the past, good. If I was an artist and have opportunity to do something with national media I would probably go for it.

And fun fact, there was a man named George Orwell who was working for bbc, who also wrote one little book, you all know the name of it.

Ok gotcha, so you're confirming what I'm saying. I'll leave it at that, we don't need to debate this anymore

RFKjr won't survive a primary so I guess I'm wasting my time by trying to prove how he is a hack. Plus the DNC will shut him out easily

For better or worse Biden is the democratic candidate and so it is

I don't suppose it matters which way we go
This great society is going smash

Sadly I was pretty disappointed with "Can't Get You Out of My Head" after how good Century of Self and Hypernormalisation were. But I'll continue watching what he puts out. Most creators have their misses.

He may have a condition that enables him to talk in this way but I wonder has he always spoken with a frog in his throat? Suck a menthol man and I might take your crackpottyness seriously!
Joking aside, he seems a bit of a nervous speaker?

He's having trouble remembering the lines that were fed to him by his Russian sponsors. Speaking of conspiracies, did you know that RFK Jr.'s Super PAC, 'Heal the Divide,' was started by the same people who promoted right-wing Trumpists such as Marjorie Taylor Greene and George Santos? Furthermore, Trump allies such as Roger Stone and Steve Bannon support RFK Jr.'s campaign. Draw your own conclusions from this information.

I agree that BBC is a western propaganda outlet, but Hypernormalisation kind of bucks that trend. One of the rare pieces of media appearing on a mainstream channel that critiques mainstream media and the western military-industrial complex. I was actually fairly surprised it aired on BBC.
