The band and label care enough to put out a statement, albeit brief.
And as for thinking it "was nice", well that's way to normalise war propaganda I suppose. Orwell, back to the farm, eh.

I can't understand the mindset of someone who cares about this incredibly minor incident. But I suppose it must feel good to circlejerk each other around, letting everybody know how much you condemn the fascists as if it is a unique or contrarian opinion to have.

Using peoples art/music without their consent is everything that is wrong with this new AI generation.
The band themselves are likely outraged & rightfully so. You can care as little as you like like but it suggests that you don't really get the band & have a shallow understanding of artistic integrity.

Never thought I would see the US empire crumble in my lifetime but here we are. I do hope the sane folk gain back control of the asylum soon but it's both fascinating and horrifying to watch.
it sucks how divided we are over here. it's impossible to describe how it feels and the news/videos people see do not do it justice.
Don't worry, it's not happening only in the US. In fact down here many of us are starting to believe there is no democratic exit to this mess. It's a shame but history is grounded in violence and, while unfortunate, the boiling point only keeps getting closer.

Warp released a one-sentence statement saying they don't condone use of their music for political messaging. I wouldn't exactly call that "outraged", you seem to think the band is outraged because you are outraged.
BOC's been my favourite band for years. I think it's laughable that you assume I am shallow and don't understand anything about them because I don't have a strong opinion on some tweet from the government using their music!

Accusing folk of circle jerking & being contrarian for the sake of it is a strong enough opinion, no? You're apathetic so you can't understand why others aren't. Works both ways.
You can be a lifelong fan of a group and still miss the message btw... Pink Floyd fans that say they liked Roger Waters until he got political may have listened to Pink Floyd for years but they clearly never heard the message.

I have a strong opinion on the public reaction to the tweet. But the tweet itself? Couldn't care less. You also seem to have misunderstood my point, as being against Trump is not a contrarian opinion to hold at all, despite how many people seem to think it is. The default, safe take to spout is that you hate and condemn the ultra-fascist nazi regime.
Popular band releases long awaited album, some social media intern thinks it's a cool track to use in a post. I don't think there's much more to this story than that.

Again with the passive aggressive claptrap. The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

That would completely disregard the multitude of well written and well acted characters that came before Rogue One would it not?

Here's some more propaganda from the Trump administration:
Would love to hear feedback, the nazification of America is intolerable.

Personally I'd be pretty pissed if someone used my art as bad fascist agitprop. The fact that you have a stronger opinion on people calling it out gives real shoot the messenger vibes.

I can't understand the mindset of people who post contrarian opinions about people supposedly having contrarian opinions. If you care as little as you claim, why bother posting at all?

I mean I wouldn't call it outrage it's just icky
And kind of funny, to think of a Christofascist clocking the prayer samples, reading them at face value with no interpretation, and thinking it was fitting to use as incidental music. The devil is indeed in the details

Do they care to put out a statement because you guys made a coordinated effort to reach out to them by email crying about it or do they really inherently care that they would have done it without a single person reaching out to them?
Regardless, I don't wait for WARP or Boards of Canada statements to make up my mind about something.
"Normalize war propaganda" Well, either you go all in and campaign for no wars ever, which is a delusional hippie pipe-dream or you come to the conclusion that war is necessary and part of life and with that comes the fact that you do need people and there's no two ways about it to do so. You need engagement and you do need them to sign up for it. Most comfort you enjoy from wherever you are posting this from is built on war and propaganda is the backbone of that.
Also I'm not speaking for you specifically here when I say this but a lot of those people complaining would not do so if it was Biden's White House posting BoC as propaganda. We can only assume advanced cases of Trump Derangement Syndrome instead of the much more politically advanced opinion of "not being down with the government trying to rule over its people".
At the same time, sometimes, the government really is ruled by its people in some ways and sometimes those people are fans of Boards of Canada and they enjoy making a little edit to hype people about the administration they are working for. If you disagree and think that they're just being trendy by grabbing BoC out of a list of trendy things I'm afraid I've got to knock some sense into you; BoC is very niche and you would have your head way far up your ass to think they're big enough for the government to do a "Oh it's so hip let's use this" type of thing. They're not Bruce Springsteen.

"Icky" is the perfect way to describe this.
I hate that they just wanged (yes, "to wang") it onto more of their drivel video tripe but my other take is, there is no such thing as bad press.
Hopefully Warp and the gents carry their clout to get this removed but at least it plays into the idea of free advertising on a huge scale.
