I don't really see how you could make a sequel for mulholland drive. seemed pretty open/shut as it is.

But I think it will be interesting to see what he will make out of it. It was ment to be a series like Twin peaks, so I guess he had some other plans for the story that he may want to explore more, the other characters and such.. But yes it can either be great or just crap. But I trust Lynch

No, I didn't know that. But I think that Naomi Watts verion of Betty/Diane is perfect, especially in the end.

Didn't Inland Empire have something to do with Mulholland Drive? I seem to remember it having some kind of connection. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm glad to see a Twin Peaks conversation going on. I have only recently watched the whole series and I really liked it.

Even though the movie is pretty much a prequel, I say start with the series.

When I first moved to washington state I was so jazzed about the fact that it looked just like twin peaks. Such a great setting for that show.

Has to be best series i've ever watched, up there with the x-files for me. Watched more of Lynch's stuff after TP but nothing comes close in my opinion. Blue Velvet was my favourite film of his though.

definitely agree with this, I watched the film after too. If you watch the film first it would spoil the series for you, as in you'd know who was the killer and some other parts of the story.

Currently been watching it (first season re-watching, and watching most of the second season for the first time). Currently about halfway through season two now, so please keep this thread warm for me for when I'm finished, so I can contribute to a massive discussion.

I'm a big Lynch fan in general, too.

Some points about it...
1. Very similar in a number of ways to Boards of Canada's vague 'announcement'.
2. Possibly linked to this new film project with Laura Dern I've heard rumours about.
3. A few comments people are connecting this with Twin Peaks, and some of them seem sort of believable... the one who mentions that Lynch had mentioned about the town 'not being dead' or something peaked (AHAHAHAHAHA PEAKED) my interest, particularly.

My introduction to the world of Twin Peaks was through the Fire Walk with Me film, which I stumbled across one late night 7 years ago on Space Channel. It blew my mind, due to its weird and abstract nature but only perpetuated my desire to read up on anything and everything related to the show. I still adore the movie a hell of a lot, I know many fans dislike it but for me its David Lynch at his wackiest, total creative control. I still hope someday all the deleted scenes are released, or an extended cut.

The Gold Box has been on my wishlist since it was released..every time I have the money to buy it, I can't find a copy. Or I find it at a store, and don't have the cash.

Yeah buddy, same here. I had read bad reviews of FWWM so I didn't have high hopes, but being desperate for more Twin Peaks, I decided to watch it and really enjoyed it. Having now seen more of his films, I think it's one of his better films also, probably just coz I love Twin Peaks though.

It's definitely one of those flicks that grows on you, I think..you can tell (and if you've read about the production of it) that he had a lot more he wanted to include in it, some characters scenes were cut entirely. Still, I think it's up there with Inland Empire, Lost Highway and Eraserhead as one of his biggest mindfuck movies. Angelo Badalamenti's soundtrack is, as always, superb!

With Inland -- just go with it. Don't try to hard trying to think about what it all means, and just experience it. It's very visually striking, I'd say: there's a curious sort of awkwardness to it all, kind of ugly even, but overall it's very dreamlike and does that really well.

Need to rewatch it when I can set aside three good hours to do so.

Agree about Blue Velvet. It's my favourite of Lynch's movies too.

I'm a huge Lynch fan, but it pains me to say that I didn't like Inland Empire at all. It's the first time Lynch used digital video but I wasn't keen. His other films are beautiful to look at. However the digital in Inland Empire is stark and somewhat harsh. I get what he was trying to do, but it was a real struggle to watch.

Good stuff lads. I was let down by Lost Highway to be honest. Out of what I've seen, that didn't do much for me really.

Gonna let the album sink in a bit now then check out Inland Empire.
