Checking the ratings I've given BoC tracks on i-tunes, "Basefree", "A Moment Of Clarity" and "Diving Station" are the only tracks I've given two stars. I guess I find them a bit tuneless.
The oft mentioned on this thread Zoetrope and Chinook are great though, esp. Chinook with it's snares and weird deep background noise. Classic BoC IMHO.
Horses for courses I guess and it just goes to show the breadth and depth of their music that certain tracks really polarise opinion.

Ooch, that hurts! It's actually one of my favorites.
The worst BOC track in my opinion is Magic Window. After reading something on Wikipedia saying that 400 song fragments and 64 complete songs were written for Geogaddi, of which 23 were selected and one of which is silence.

Back to the good old days... In 2002 on the P2P (Soulseek, Audiogalaxy & others...), lots of people were asking "Hey, I can't download the last track - "Magic Window", all I get is a minute of silence

". That's what happens when you never buy records...
Ok, I said before that "Zoetrope" was my... let's say it was my less favorite BOC track. But I tried to listen
In a beautiful place without this track, and then something's missing, it's kind of unfinished, so I guess "Zeotrope" had to be here anyway.

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but when it was released I actually emailed Warp to find out if I had a duff CD because Magic Window was blank (I'd bought it direct from Warpmart on pre-release, so I thought I was going to have to exchange it).
They politely replied that there was nothing wrong with my CD and that it's meant to be like that.
Well, it was an easy mistake to make...

"Amo Bishop Roden" just reminds me of orbital really.
Also on "Kid for Today" you can hear a film reel going from the start of the track to the very end. i just noticed that today on the bus....
but i still dont like "Rue The Whirl"....
I love "Zoetrope"! i just dont know what it is about it but i just see it as class..

I've been meaning to chime in on this... I can't really put a negative thought into anything BoC, but if I must, "David Came To Mahana'im" from OT Vol. 2 is one I seem to give a pass to, again and again. Although it does contain the sample used in Sixtyniner, which is one of my favorite tracks... ah... the duality of BoC.

Gfresh, that track is actually 'Sir Prancelot Brainfire' mislabeled. The real 'David Came To Mahana'im' is 04:39 and sounds kindy techno-trancy with a buildup/break-down structure.

Whoa! Thanks for the clarification, GS, I had no clue.

as for the bitterness surrounding zoetrope...
i think it is a good track...i would love to be in a duo and my worst song be zoetrope...to me its just too long
same with rue the whirl...but i still enjoy them...

i seriously don't understand how so many people think 'rue the whirl' is their worst boc tune .. its the style of that track that first seriously got me into them, really hypnotic and heavily hip hop influenced, the fact its pretty much just one loop all the way through only adds to the fact i love it so much, its such a head-rocker !!
anyway, personaly the version of 'nlogax' on 'hi scores' has to be my least favourite...that melody just isnt as good as other boc melodies in my opinion..

this is so crazy! it just goes to show how diverse BoC's style is! i fuckin love nlogax. fuckin electro on timewarp brain psychosis, baby!

even when rue the whirl comes on i will listen to the whole thing... zoetrope...not so much...it is the only song i will listen to a portion of and then skip over...
dont get me wrong i love the many sides of BoC...i love how they can switch styles yet you still know a boards track when you hear...it
thats why i love TCH...all these tracks sound much different than older boards...theres hardly any vocal samples and there is more guitar work...(this everyone already knows)
so it has nothing to do with styles for me...and everything to to do with the LENGTH of zoetrope...with a song that has these amazing arrangements and floating melodies that seem to swirl about like leaves blowing...it just never goes any where....
take happy cycling...everyone knows that that when it kicks in at around 5:07-5:08 it was well worth the hypnotic repetitivness...
but thats just me

If Zoetrope was replaced with Macquarie Ridge, then IABOITC would be the perfect Ep.
