Well LSD for me is a real “problem solver”. Everything is so “clear” in your head. Like you can easily put the puzzle together. You can think about the problems or feelings you have and think about them in a very different way as to being sober. It’s almost as if being sober clouds your thoughts somehow, as if reality is an illusion. It’s hard to explain.polarbear wrote:hey man, i think the same as you.. but i would be interested to explain to me the following idea:Gazebo4 wrote:"It's even possible to use them as a tool to live a better/fuller life."
Next to that it also changed my mindset about society today. The advertising and marketing you see today. People driven by money, greed and materialism. The shallow conversations people have. For me it was a huge eye-opener and it makes me FEEL a better person just to acknowledge these things. It’s kind of funny (or sad) to hear people around you stressing out over trivial day to day crap while they don’t seem to realize that there are much more important things in the world.
Another thing is my grown appreciation for nature. How could I have missed the beauty before? It's all in the details
Another thing I learnt is that only health and happiness matter. If people are unhappy, most of the time they don’t do anything about it. They don’t break their routines and daily habits. It’s all up to yourself to make a change. Break your habits and go out. Do what you like and do what you want.
I don’t know, I’m not really good at expressing my thoughts in English. Maybe others can explain their view on it better!
i understand completely, thanks for the tip!Gazebo4 wrote:Well LSD for me is a real “problem solver”. Everything is so “clear” in your head. Like you can easily put the puzzle together. I don't think I would have ever tried LSD if it wasn't for Boards of Canada. I'm glad that I did though. It makes me feel more locked into their music even when sober. Like others have mentioned, it's helped me appreciate nature - there's nothing like BoC in your ear, hiking in the wilderness with no civilization in sight, while your mind visits amazing places.
I think my first time was around Geogaddi. MHTRTC made me "get" weed, Geogaddi made me "get" psychedelics. These days, I really only smoke with friends on occasion and drop once or twice a year, but I like to think that my 20s were well spent thanks to these guys and their music.
I still haven't listened to TH on LSD, it doesn't seem like it would lend itself well to it. It might sound like some hippy dippy shit, but I feel on a deep level that almost everything from the OT tapes up through Geogaddi is very influenced by psychedelics, TCH and TH are not that way at all, despite still sounding like BoC albums. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't partake anymore, or at least not very often. TCH always felt like how BoC would do a BoC album while sober, if that makes sense.

I think you're right on all of that, but I have to say I believe TCH is the most psychedelic of them all.. It has this weird, cosmic vibe to it.Opothecary wrote:I don't think I would have ever tried LSD if it wasn't for Boards of Canada. I'm glad that I did though. The Odd Nosdam remix of dayvan lasted for HOURS while I was on acid
I also have an incredible appreciation for that song now. All of the little squeaks, hisses, clicks. SOOO many in there I had never heard. Now I know why it took him 6 months to finish that remix

I agree with this. TCH is mega psychedelic, and highly referential of acid (isn't this that documentary with that guy 'Tom' from North America circa 60s/70s? Kinda into acid. I remember a doc anyhow...).chronical wrote:I think you're right on all of that, but I have to say I believe TCH is the most psychedelic of them all.. Also agree with the other poster about acid letting you 'get' things, and also see the full(er) depths of nature and the world around you; these experiences allow us to contemplate and 'see into' things in a way that everyday/sober life doesn't permit/allow/qualify. I remember, in the notes I made after my first (and only - as yet) acid trip were referential of this better seeingness in nature or the qualities of the experiential dimensions.

I'd have to disagree with this statement. It sounds like a bit of a generalization really. I wouldn't say psychedelics increase the perception of the sound, but more distorts or alters the perception of the way we hear sound. Not trying to knock you down here dude (I may have misread the point you were making), and I know everyone experiences things differently, but it's kinda like saying you need to be ripped off your tits on acid/shrooms/dmt/whatever to fully appreciate or get the most out of the music. I don't agree with that one bit. I've had many tripping experiences over the years where music just hasn't made sense to me at all, and I've had to get away from it.Gazebo4 wrote:Thing with LSD (and other psychedelics) is that it increases the perception of the sound completely.
I cant remember where the hell I read that 6 month thing but I am quite certain it is true.polarbear wrote:this remix is really amazing.. but did not know had taken six months to do it.nick47 wrote:The Odd Nosdam remix of dayvan lasted for HOURS while I was on acid

It makes sense to me. There are so many little chirps clicks whirrs and such when the whole thing comes together at 3 minutes

Not sure about that. He passed all of his doping tests and there hasn't been any sort of serious allegations against him. His proficiency is also only just enough higher than other individual swimmers, whereas someone like Lance Armstrong was showing MUCH higher proficiency than other cyclists (which is likely the reason everybody knew he was doping pretty much). However, I obviously have no idea whether or not he did or did not drug himself for sure. If he did I feel like his team would probably do better in four man relays because he'd get the team far ahead.fujee wrote:Ironically, he is/was almost definitely "drugged" in other ways if you catch my drift..Rodheh wrote:This was ages ago but fuck, I sure hope that was a joke. Unless that's not what you're talking about, in which case I don't catch your drift.
On topic: I don't know a whole lot about BoC and LSD.
But I do know a lot about BoC and opiates. It's fuckin' great. As for the brothers, I'm sure they've experimented with many mind altering substances. I mean, most adults typically try at least one. They're certainly not "typical".
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

Don't wanna get into a whole sports doping debate. But I have no doubt in my mind he was taking EPO/Blood transfusions/Testosterone etc.. If you read any sports doping book, especially a cycling one, you will see anti doping controls are childs play if you have the right doctor. Check out "The Secret Race" from olympic gold winner Tyler Hamilton for confirmation.Rodheh wrote:Not sure about that. We don't have to. Given the evidence presented to me, specifically that from the World Anti-Doping Agency, the fact that he doesn't beat around the bush about it and the fact that he's signed up for testing just recently again likely to go to Rio, I don't see any concrete reason to believe he was (not saying he couldn't have been, by any means), but if you're set on that then I'll just change my statement to reference just about any really visionary award winning musician/filmmaker. Either way, was just a response to a joke Nicole made.fujee wrote:Don't wanna get into a whole sports doping debate.
