I guess I don't have all that much to say except... damn, Dawn Chorus is one of the best songs I've ever heard (despite only hearing it twice), but I'm frankly afraid to hear it again anytime soon. As pretentious as this may sound to the average person I feel like BoC do much more than just make music, there's something deeper going on there. Something that tears you apart inside in a way that's hard, if not impossible, to put into English.
You'll get used to it. At least, I did.
I had similar experiences with BoC (Dawn Chorus too!).
When you got used to their many used wobbly effects (like a crooked record), the tracks become even more special and awesome!
So you're up for a big treat!

I'm a huge fan of Biosphere and substrata has as big emotional value for me as MHTRC. Allthough he doesn't do all that much livesets as well, I was lucky enough to be able to see him in a classic concerthall in our town. It was so fucking loud, weird and trippin I finally found myself hanging over the toilet. There wasn't even booze served at the venue so that wasn't the problem. The music just grabbed me by the stomach and squeezed it all out.

Geogaddi is my favorite from start to finish. Quite a few songs on there have strange effects on me.
After listening to "The Devil is in the Details" one day, it got stuck in my head later that night while I was in bed trying to fall asleep. It kept me up for hours and I started to feel like I was running a fever and having "waking nightmares".
The first time I heard "Dawn Chorus", I dismissed it because it sounded a lot like a Moby track to me. After giving it a few more listens though, it grew on me.

The introduction to "Everything You Do Is A Balloon" does it for me, it's so sinister yet happy at the same time, the sort of feeling I imagine when a "friendly stranger" turns up at a playground or something. A sick thought I know but it just what pops in to my head. Once the track kicks in though it's amazing, one of my all time favourites.
I believe i've posted this elsewhere on the forum but once I was high as a kite listening to "Alpha and Omega" on vinyl and I had a full blown trip. I was riding the sound waves it was amazing, since then I listen to the song with a complete changed perspective somehow it's really bizarre.
I'm now going to have a good listen to Dawn Chorus and You Could Feel The Sky.

I thought of this thread the other night.
Dawn Chorus happened to be playing on my iPod in the car when I picked my wife up from work. I had just turned the volume down, but it the song could be heard in the background.
The conversation was brief:
Wife: What is this? Are there two songs playing at the same time?
Me: No, it's Boards of Canada [turns volume up a bit]
Wife: This is causing a dyscognitive state in my brain. Can we turn it off?
Me: Sure

Great topic this is! I've not had real experiences like this, but had some other weird stuff while listening to boards of canada. When I go home from basketbal practice by bike, I have to go through a bit of forest (just like somebody else stated) and when listening to you could feel the sky, I always have this weird feeling someone is coming up behind me, and I always look back, and get this weird feeling im being followed. I now play that song everytime I go through that bit of forest, I guess I somehow got a bit addicted to that feeling. 2 Weeks ago though, I was cycling in that part of forest, looked back again (as usual), and 1 meter to my side, in the forest itself stood this man when I turned my head from looking back to front, and he scared the hell outta me. Turned out he was just walking his dog, but that kind of paranoia, which I got a bit addicted to or something, really got me there ;p
Edit: I get through that bit of forest somewhere around 22;30, so it is dark, not like theres daylight or something

Haha, that's awesome... your wife sounds pretty cool, saying things like "dyscognitive state". Hopefully she likes their music in other circumstances, though...

I've often had to skip Farewell Fire if I'm feeling down, I've got this horrible feeling it could invoke suicidal thoughts or something.
(slightly unrelated but anybody ever tried walking through a dark forest while playing Tree by Aphex Twin? Not something I'd reccomend
)

She doesn't have BoC on her iPod, but she has commented on other songs I've played in the car. In particular, I think she really liked Happy Cycling.

Damn right. BoC is the soundtrack to my own Ballardian myths of the near future....I posted some BoC fan videos to the J G Ballard list but nobody there seemed to get it.

I fell asleep on my couch listening to Geogaddi just now and awoke right when Dawn Chorus began. Holy Moley what a way to wake up! I had my good headphones on and that swelling synth that sounds like a harley revving was blowing me away. Also the faint chanting of, what sounded like "yes yes," by the female voice throughout the song which I'd never heard before was the topper. Fantastic track!

I find A is to B as B is to C almost unbearable at times. Definitely agree with whoever said Twoism makes them feel isolated, I've felt that many times while listening to it. You Could Feel The Sky also has that feeling to it.
