Fredd-E wrote:Also it's the lengthiest official boc track to date! That's exciting to me. I really like long tracks, especially if they are interesting and great. (I just don't hope they pull off a second farewell fire. I want a full 8:36 track without a lengthy almost meaningless fadeout.)

The only other one that tops this one in lenght is xyz, but that's an unofficial one.

Boards of Canada - xyz (9:30)
Boards of Canada - seven forty seven (8:36)
Boards of Canada - farewell fire (8:26)
Boards of Canada - happy cycling (7:56)
Actually, XYZ is only that long because of the interview at the beginning. The actual track is only eight minutes in total. So Seven Forty Seven will be the longest track yet.

Thanks for the warm greetings, I expect some new members should be coming in soon.....

As for the Warp20 release, I agree with some of whats been said here. One of the lengthiest BOC tracks to see the light of day is one I cant wait to hear. The snippets we've heard from the old site is just that, a snippet. Like getting a whiff of a fantastic meal, only to have it served to you years later - piping hot.

As for my own orbit in the BOC universe, I've had a longstanding admiration for the brothers Sandison and what they do....and dont do. I feel the urge like any other fan, to grumble in frustration at the lack of news regarding a new album and such. But in my opinion, nothing is owed. The artist has every right to release anything or nothing at all. I'll wait as long as they want, and enjoy what has been released in the meantime.

A quick mention of a POSSIBLE rumble in the earth ala BOC. My father is a mastering enginner, and years ago worked on the BOC remix of Beck's "Broken Drum". I always assumed they used his version on the release, but looking online I see its credited to Bob Ludwig, who isnt my father. Regrdless, he didn't deal with the brothers themselves, but did receive some emailed notes on the track from one of them. As for how it relates to current news, and this is PURELY conjecture mind you, is this: Around 3 months ago he had a booking with an artist named "HexSun", billing to Warp Records. The booking cancelled before the date of the session, which is fairly common. Nothing has been re-scheduled since. Now, it could of been the "Seven Forty Seven" track, but rarely does a compilation use different mastering engineers for every track. But it does happen. It could have been a different artist (The Sexual Objects perhaps, but are they with Warp?), etc. Could be new BOC. All just speculation. But it had me excited for a bit........

I look forward to debating the "what ifs" and "how comes" with you lot here.....

Pity BoC didn't recreate a track... so we only get one "new" BoC track.. but it's a lenghty one! I like that! One of the longest BoC tracks ever! ( A1. Boards of Canada 'Seven Forty Seven' (8:36) )
It now says:

A1. Boards of Canada 'Seven Forty Seven' (6:44)

Weird.

So it's not as long as we thought :/

Hmm.. surprised that 747 is an elastic 'lenght track, we don't understand the physic timespace on boc songs yet

8:36 was the "felt time" of that song.

Or the time at 33RPM in stead of 45RPM? Mind you I didn't calculate the difference.

Must read deeper into mystical meaning..

I'm still weirded out by this.

You know, 20th aniv box set and they can only get Autechre to take it seriously out of all the big-name guys. BoC throws in an already complete track. RDJ is completely absent (which doesn't surprise me) but then much to my surprise...Squarepusher is also completely absent. Yes there's Plaid, Clark and Vibert in the mix too but you would think that boc, rdj and tom would at least put some effort into this regardless of how busy their current album keeps them.

Magic Window is actually the longest song...seeing as how it is silent therefore forever running and continuously playing since the release of geogaddi...even though it is listed as 1:46 i do not buy into that. i believe in the magic that is the Magic Window. So, if we put it all in perspective magic winow has been playing for 2697 days...or 7 years, 4 months, 20 days or...233,020,800 seconds or...3,883,680 minutes or...64,728 hours ...385 weeks (rounded down)...based on japan release feb 13 2002.

I was also amazed that there isn't a single Prefuse track in the box. There is diamond watch wrists though... it's lame that there isnt anything new from squarepusher or RDJ. But like you said, RDJ doesnt surprise me one bit with this type of thing. There is a whole new CD of Solo Electric Bass from squarepusher. Not exactly the Squarepusher that i love, but still cool.

I'm also a bit bummed that theres no b12 representation. Electro-soma and time tourist are two of my favorite warp releases. i think a lot of these guys have moved on though. im sure to them warp just isnt what it used to be.

Does one absorb the musical talents of the person one marries? Like Rogue in X-Men? :P
maybe only if you partake of the life essence

read into that what you will
True in some cases, I'd expect.

Is that deliberate attempt a belittling Mira Calix or accidental?
Never intended to belittle Mira Calix. I am simply, honestly, interested in hearing her rendition of IABPOITC. I've never heard her stuff anyway (although I've been intending to give her a listen for some time now).

I was watching a bit of The Truth About Crime on BBC1 last night, and in between stories of drug addicts and other crime stuff the background music was Turquoise Hexagon Sun, which is how I always imagined one of my favourite BoC tracks to be featured

I keep wondering about this post on WATMM. What exactly does "in the thick of finishing a new full length album" mean? Since they're perfectionists, they could be in the thick of finishing up for the next 6 months. I'm guessing an early 2010 date, unfortunately. Just wish it would be here sooner. At least we have the shirts and 747 to tide us over...

Careful, if we complain too much on this board, the album will be delayed another 6 months.
