I would say that is more early Industrial than SynthPop... But still a great album (IMO).

Pretty Hate Machine owes a great debt to Depeche Mode as well as Ministry. I think he combined the best of 80's synth pop and industrial into a nice little package for 90's kids like myself. I think it fits well next to both genres.

I agree with you on that.
