Some newcomers on Twoism like My Bloody Valentine, well this topic is prove their not alone.

I need to resume this project. Maybe now that I'm back on soulseek I can check out some more of these bands.

"Loveless" is not the early work from MBV, it's their last album from 1991, " Ecstasy and Wine" is from 1989,

If you read it again, it says that most people talk about "Loveless" most of the time, and not their early work. I have everything from them as well. Great band.

I don't think i know it all, and i wasn't trying to act that way. All i was doing was pointing out that before you correct someone else you should be sure of your facts. And polar sky did not need correcting anyway.

And in the spirit of friendship and reconciliation, i will admit that i made a mistake too - in a way you are right - Ecstasy and Wine did come out in 1989. It was a collection of the Ecstasy mini LP and the Strawberry Wine 12" which both came out in 1987, which was the point i was trying to make.

Oh and there was no sarcasm in my post. Being sarcastic would be if i meant the opposite of what i wrote.

Now go to bed and let's hear no more about it.

Oh niknak btw it's D4VERD4NN I was not really trying to correct Polar Sky, i just gave him more info about MBV, and yr right i made a mistake with that mini-album, so i looked for it in my collection and it was 1987. And sorry but this is sarcasm to me, and i go to bed when i feel like it.

I don't need more info about them, I own most of their vinyls. I know a lot about them. Thanks though.

Does anyone like the band Lush? If you haven't checked em out, get their album "Spooky". Great record.

Just listening to Spooky again for the first time in years. Has some great stuff on there but suffers a bit from a Robin Guthrie production that makes much of it sound like a speeded-up Cocteau Twins. The Chapterhouse stuff he produced had the same trait.

Most of the remembered shoegaze stuff was recorded in a relatively short period of time. Two or three years maybe. And much of it was produced, engineered or mixed by Robin Guthrie or Alan Moulder, which is a major part of what created the 4AD or Creation sound respectively.

Personally, the Lush stuff that I prefer is their debut mini-LP and brace of EPs. I liked the rough spikiness they had then, which seemed to get smoothed out on later releases.

My Bloody Valentine are one of only a handful of bands that I've loved wholeheartedly over the years. When I first heard BoC, around the time of MHTRTC, I heard echoes of the things that I loved about MBV. There's something similar in the texture of the sound, the haze of harmonics and ghostly half-heard melodies. And there's also that reclusive, untouched by populist influence side to them both.

If you like "Spooky" [1992] also check the earlyer "Gala" [a compilation of singles and b-sides] [1990] and" Split"[1993] all on 4AD. I saw them live in 1993 in Antwerp and they where brilliant. I still listen to them when i'm in the mood.

I recommend Sweet trip. They are a little idm, but they are classified shoegaze, they are mixture of the two.

I have lot's in my files on soulseek and in my collection at home.

Nobody has mentioned Catherine Wheel yet. Their first two cd's entitled Ferment and Chrome are classics to me. For a good start I would check out the song Black Metallic.
Their later cd entitled Adam and Eve is also great but it is less shoegazey and more orchestration and rock oriented. Stay clear of Wishville and Happy Days though.

The thing that I like about this stuff is that unlike just about anything else I listen to, this stuff makes me want to crank the volume on my stereo WAY UP.

Slowdive and Bitcrush and M83 have been dominating my listening lately....

I guess I like this shoegaze meets idm stuff quite a bit. Thanks for all the tips.

If you like those artists I highly recomend checking out Manual if you haven't already. His best releases are Ascend, Azure Vista, and Isares Ep. And his release with Syntaks called "Golden Sun" is one of my all time favorite albums.

This Manual stuff has a lot of potential. The problem (imo) with a lot of shoegaze and idm stuff is that it seems to unfold more in space than in time... thus brief soundsamples aren't too helpful.

But I'm definitely going to keep exploring his stuff. A lot of potential here. What are some favorite tracks of yours, Derail?

Well, there's a lot of them, these are the most played Manual tracks on my ipod;

Baja Nights

And just about every track on "Golden Sun'' is good. This is where I started, so maybe you wanna pick up this album first? I still don't have all his albums, he has quite a lot of music out for being so young. Some of his more ambient stuff isn't that great I've heard.

Never heard of " Manual " before but i will check them out.

I bought Manual & Syntaks and Ascend yesterday. I like it all, but i'm not in love with it.......yet. It's a bit mechanical sounding in spots and not as organic as usually like, but I think this is pretty good stuff and should grow on me. I think alot of people here would really like it, so i'd recommend those two as Derail did.

Manual & Syntaks_Golden Sun [2004] is ok, but sorry that's no shoegazing for me.

OMG, I just saw MBV's video for "Soon" on tv!
