Much better than Slow This Bird Down. I didn't expect the voice to fit like it does, it's a bit too loud in my opinion.
Thanks for the heads up mdg.

I really don't mind this, it's so much better than the Slow This Bird Down effort. See now I could see why people were peeved off with that one because it was officially released, whereas this one has ben put out to show her appreciation for BoC more than anything, which is cool by me.

It's fucking garbage. Good job BoC. Why don't you let every fucking pop-diva sing over your best tracks and ultimately ruin them. What's next? Avril Lavine singing over "Everything You Do Is A Balloon"? Seriously, is this what we've been waiting 6 years for?
If you wanna get angry about it, direct it at the guy who commented on that page saying that the 'music drowned her voice out'! Also if Avril Lavinge wanted to sing over EYDIAB and pop it up on SoundCloud I'd be cool with that, infact I'd be impressed with her tasteful choice.

Would love to hear a Boards Of Canada mix of this...Take Solanges vocals and let Boards Of Canada mix the track like they did with that Beck remix. I think BOCs strongest weapon is the producer skills they got. Ive never heard more interesting productions from any producer than Michael and Marcus.

if BoC remixed a Solange track then i could totally get on board with that. but not this.

She likes BOC, they inspire her like they inspire so many people to make cheesy fanart, endless fan videos... some dodgy (and not so dodgy) covers... this is just her way of expressing how BoC inspires her. I don't love or hate it (some parts are a little silly) but it's not worth raging over.

Thing is, the track didn't need a vocal, it's an instrumental, not a backing track. It was already complete. Bits of it go OK, but it's unsatisfying to listen to because an extra layer of anything on top of it just gets in the way.

You hit the nail on the head.

I really like it. I can see why people are spitting feathers even if I don't agree with them, but I think she's been pretty sympathetic to the track and it works well for what is, yes, a woman singing over an instrumental track.
Back when "What About Us" came out (the Brandy track FYI), I thought " this shit right here is what it's all about". R'n'B and electronica are stale and insular and an injection of one into the other and vice versa would give music a much needed shot in the arm and breathe new life into both genres. Whether it's purely electronic musicians experimenting with vocalists, or singers working with new beat and melody structures or whatever, I personally find the potential pretty exciting if this gets jumped on.

I thought this was really good.
I dug how her vocals complimented an otherwise boring track.
I think this is better than the original.
YEAH, I SAID IT. JEEZE, WHAT? I'm allowed my own opinion.

Infinitely better than 'This Bird', although her vocals are too high up in the mix for me. My only question is, given just how dreadful This Bird was, which genius released it over this??

I totally agree with this. I love Left Side Drive, but I have to say the track is a bit uneventful, even by BoC standards. If there's a boc track that could use some vocals, it's refinitely this one, and I think she performed it very well. I don't know if I can really say it's better, but I definitely have to say enjoy listening to it, at least she didn't make it worse.

I would lol if this is what the black box is for - a whole album of R&B singers singing over their tracks.
