Lemme jump in on this. I agree that fans need to respect people who work on the show. The internet is the internet, but keep it sane with people involved in the show

I watched an Andrea Libman (voice of Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie) Q&A and she says she is skeptical of whether or not to open fan emails anymore because people have sent her "dirty links" (probably R34), which I think is just stupid. Like, what the hell are you trying to do with that? It's just dumb...

Ashleigh Ball (voice of Rainbow Dash and Applejack) seems to be more laid back. I listened to an interview and she says she checked out a lot of the fandom, and has actually watched the .MOV videos, which I found cool that she wasn't offended by that stuff.

Yeah. And I totally agree that sending voice actors emails with porn in them is a lame thing to do unless for some reason they intone that they enjoy it.

But that's kind of not the point.

The point is, some of us find cartoons sexy, and don't get off on human porn. I don't see why we shouldn't be allowed to fantasize about cartoons and create erotic pictures of them.

I don't think anybody really has a problem with that, provided fans of R34 could keep the people who love to be weird with it a minimal percentage of the group. Unfortunately on the internet it's a large chunk, which is kind of the reason this sort of thing happened in the first place.


But nobody should condemn rule 34 as a whole just because some people don't keep it among themselves, that's punishing the innocent for actions of the guilty. However, because of how it commonly manifests online and with all these people who take it too far, it's understandable why people become critical of it.

Woops, bumping this cause I decided to check out this thread again and now I need to respond.

I was in no way shooting down R34. When I said, "what are you trying to do with that" I meant what are you trying to do by sending them that, not what are you trying to do with making the actual art. I myself don't have a problem with it, though I can say that I am not attracted to any of it in the slightest.

When people show it to like an internet community or on 4chan or sites like that, I understand that people who may not want to see it may see it when they don't want to. I was mainly commenting on sending it to the VA's, who I'm 99% sure don't want to see any of that. I know Tara Strong has acknowledged it and is really cool about it, saying that it's just a part of every fandom, and that you can leave it if you don't want to be a part of it. It was just to me, emailing a VA a picture of R34 is basically like showing your dick on chat roulette. Or something in that vein.
