For example, some people I know are of the opinion that gay people are satan's minions and should burn in hell.

OK, again a fair point well made, but we weren't talking about bigoted homophobic hatred, we're talking about a politely made comment about a record. While the principle is the same - of course you can hold a different view - I think there are sometimes better ways of expressing that different view then telling someone to grow up. Equally, 'Idiotic statements or beliefs' are very much in the eye of the beholder.

Except the big difference is that I'm not calling his opinion idiotic, as it isn't based on idiotic principles (subjective, yes, but I try to base determining those on reason).
However, if I encountered somebody yet again (previously it was none of you guys, nobody assume anything) who tells me they refuse to listen to Geogaddi because they'll be too scared, I don't think I could refrain from acting up. It is akin to someone who refuses to watch Terminator because it's "too violent". Shit like that bothers me too much and gives me the impression that person is childish. That's all. I don't mean to point any fingers to anyone here because thankfully nobody acts like that on Twoism.

At the risk of playing devil's advocate here... what if the person in question has listened to Geogaddi and found it a profoundly disturbing experience? I can easily imagine someone hearing that record in an altered state and never going near it again.
If it's someone dismissing the record as "too scary" without having ever heard it, then that's just plain irritating. That holds true for any art dismissed on hearsay rather than first-hand experience. However, if somebody refused to watch a film such as Irreversible, then I would understand and respect their choice. I guess everyone's boundaries are different.
Personally, I love Geogaddi, but there are parts of that record that make me uncomfortable. I certainly wouldn't say that I'm in any way "scared" by it, but it does take me to places that I don't necessarily want to go. It was the soundtrack to a hefty breakdown I suffered 10 years ago and I honestly could not listen to it from start to finish for a long time.

Don't worry, it isn't devil's advocate. That is fine. I'm only referring to the latter, which I've actually observed on two separate occasions. People who would actually not listen past Music is Math upon hearing it for the first time.
If someone got fucked up on saliva or something and listened to Geogaddi where it formed some sort of internal terror that haunts them then that's a completely different story (and keep in mind, that could happen with any record). That person has something along the lines of a post-traumatic situation, where as the other guy is just a pussy.
