In the interest of getting this thread bumping again, here's a 1st draft of a track I'm working on. Just getting into the fine detailing of the drums, and excited for my new monitors to arrive to get a better crack at the mix, but the core is there -

Alot of people say they can't remember their newborn years. But I swear I remember crying my eyes out in my crib, so I took an old recording of me crying, slowed it down, reversed it, and added a depressing flute song in the background. Here it is.

part of a 4 track EP I'm currently sorting out with a new record label (new to me anyways). I'll post about it in here when I can in a few weeks. hope you dig it.

Phasen - I'm not too well versed in Tech House but I really dig the part around 1:20 when you gradually open the filter and perhaps speed up its LFO sweep - very aggressive and intense sound!

Synthestesia - Nice ambiance, I really like the muffled sample your bring in, the beep in it makes me think of space shuttle flights.

I've been working a little on rhythmic gating, as taught by Trifonic on their new video tutorial blog nextstepaudio.com. You end up basically creating a more complex and detailed LFO shape than a typical triggergate type effect - I imagine Brian Trifon learned it in his work with BT, although that in itself is a whole other level of complexity. This song fell together really quick and I like it a lot, also my first track with actual studio monitors to mix with -

Just listened to your track, very nice indeed. I liked the piano towards the end. My only critical comment would be that the oscillation between ears in the headphones was a bit too fast for me, I presume you have control over that? cheers

D'aww, thanks man. Regarding the oscillation, yeah, I can fix that! haha. I didn't see it as being a big deal but I'll give it a look and see what would sound better. I don't notice much stereo width on these headphones (My nice HD280s are broken, keep forgetting to repair them) so I'll try to find another set to test it on.

It consists of acoustic guitar and synthesizer each through a side of a stereo looper-stompbox. The synth passes through a EHX bigmuff. The guitar through various pedals. It's livemusic, but it's plaid with programming skills in mind.

Padraik... very nice track, I like the guitar along with the synth work, reminded me of parts of Zero 7 and Air, two bands I like. I especially liked when the guitar bass notes came in around 2.51, lovely. A critical point would be that to me, the high note from 4.14 seemed be be flat, I wanted it to be a little bit higher... Im not a musician and can't explain it too well. Great track.

Nothing new or totally original though, even though I'm missing some elements in allot of artist on here.

For me things hardly have to be new and original, Once I got over the heard-it-all-fever it was more about sounding and hearing right.

As soon as your lead kicks in it rocks all the way to the end. I also like the synthpatch on the intro and the beats stand out at the end. I less understood the filter cut from 0'20" to 0'30" but the rest of the track sounds convincing to me.

I've been listening to max richters blue notebooks so it's rather obvious it makes me think of it. The piano in the last third of the track is nice indeed. The fieldrecording-like thingy in the middle that cought my attention around 3.25 might swim a bit more to the foreground for me, before dissapearing again allmost completely and having it float on and off a copple of times. Listened twice just to be shure nice piece!
