This has nothing to do with me being sheltered. I've seen PLENTY of violence in my time. What I'm trying to say is that Gibson's fascination with gore is actually starting to HURT his films. If he wants to make a slasher film, he should do it. Don't make quasi-historical movies and then market them as 'realistic' because somehow they're accurate on the violent end.
Plus, he's been making the same movie since the 90's. The Patriot was just Braveheart in America. This is just The Patriot in Yucatan. I'm tired of being duped.

What majority do you mean? The non-believers like me? Mel Gibson isn't a sick bastard! Look what's going on in the Middle-East for example?! That's really sick.
Ok, so I saw Casino Royale last night and I liked it. I think that Daniel Craig makes for a very interesting Bond.
Still, though, I think my favorite last year is probably 'The Departed,' with Little Miss Sunshine as a close (though totally unrelated) second. I didn't see 'The Science of Sleep' or 'The Fountain' though. I gotta get down to Blockbuster soon.
^^ I loved little miss sunshine. It is certainly on my years top 5. I also enjoyed casio royale...the first 30 minutes had me worn out just watching it. best on foot chase scene i have ever watched.

I watched "Little Miss Sunshine" a few nights ago.. loved it.
We also watched "Lollilove" which was "eh". It was written and directed by Jenna Fischer (from The Office) and stars her and her husband as a well-to-do couple who create a charity for the homeless. They pass out lollipops with inspirational messages and artwork on the wrappers.
"Superman Returns" was another one I took in over the holidays. I really liked it as well. Routh's impression of Reeve's Superman was a bit too close for my tastes, wish they had gone in a slightly different direction, but overall it's probably my second favorite superhero movie of the last few years (right behind Spiderman 2). Gotta love Kevin Spacey as Luthor.
I always hesitate about posting in this thread as it's been forever since a movie actually "struck me".
I didn't know that Jenna Fischer was directing and writing. That's interesting.
I loved Little Miss Sunshine (if for no other reason) because it was just so UPLIFTING. I haven't seen a movie that made me feel so good for quite a while.
I think the last movie that just slapped me in the face was, can you believe it, 'The Life Aquatic'. Not because it's the best movie ever made or even Wes Anderson's best, but because it was the first movie I'd ever seen of its kind, and it caught me totally off guard.
But, as you guys probably know, I loved it. I've seen a lot of good (and even great) movies since then, but none that had as enormous of an effect on how I perceived movies.
