I have to say, there's good reason this is their most famous song.
In a way, it feels like a creepy dark Beatles track. I used to hate The Beatles, but listening to modern songs with heavy Beatles roots made me like The Beatles is a strange retrograde way.
I still don't like the Beatles that much though.
I still wouldn't mind starting a dark, creepy version of The Beatles. Stealing their chord progressions for dark inverted Beatles songs.
Karma Police exemplifies that for me (itself uses a very similar progression to Sexy Sadie), it's the perfect reference point of the kind of music I'd like to make as a side project. BoC has a lot of the same creepy magic I'd love to capture.
It'd be like a dark, depressing version of Oasis, with a good helping of BoC-style analog melodies for good measure. I already have a name for the project, but it's too good to share right now.
