I don't think Warp can do much for me as I bought it in a local shop. I'll try to get a refund from the said shop, but still... Slow This Bird Down is fine, Tears From The Compound Eye is still listenable but oh god, Farewell Fire is horrible! The only think I can do for now is listen to it at low volume as I originally did.

Maybe it's just exacerbated by the fact Farewell Fire is predominantly very quiet/silence. Not sure, either way I hope it isn't a general pressing issue. Would be unlike Warp/BoC to put out something shoddy.

Well I'm happy to say that all sides of MHTRTC and Geo, sound absolutely creamy! Couldn't be any better! Have yet to pick up TCH, which I plan on doing so at my local record shop this weekend. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed while listening to it.....

They're selling you a brand new product - and it has been defective - you are within your rights to return it as it's not functioning properly! Would be worth telling your record store that the problems are not isolated!

I've been in contact with Bleep about the issues with The Campfire Headphase - and I've sent a photo in of the scratch on side 4 (see below), which they've asked for to show the manufacturer (I believe for TCH, they were pressed at 'The Vinyl Factory'). Seems like they're happy to replace bad copies from my correspondence.

Does anyone else's copy have the same scuff/scratch?

Reading over at WATMM and many people seem to be having the same problem. It seems Campfire is the only one with problems. Anyway I've emailed Bleep basically saying on behalf of all these people who have a bad pressing, what is the course of action you expect to take. I think you emailed them too? Hopefully we hear something because it's obviously a large scale issue.

my copy's Side D looks fine, but sounds bad. Side B has some foreign substance embedded in record causing crackle. the quiet music on Side D shows up the quality of the pressing. for those who might be thinking the quiet music is only highlighting the limitations of the medium, i have a few Stars of the Lid LP's with plenty of soft passages that have no such problems.

have taken a few pics and will write to Bleep. hopefully they will get someone else to press it in future.

are most of the pressing problems isolated to side 4 of TCH and were there some on TH? (I know that isn't a repress but wondering if they are somehow related)

I've had problems on all 3 reissues. Tomorrow's Harvest is fine, though the record has degraded a lot since I got it, very crackly on some parts. Still completely playable though.

As far as I know, TH was manufactured by Optimal Media in Germany - their vinyl is very, very high quality most of the time.

MHTRTC and Geogaddi (apart from a small distortion on Corsair, which tends to be reduced with time as a noticed after listening to it twice) sound gorgeous to me.

geezus that is depressing.. particularly about the degrade in sound on TH. I used to play the hell out of my vinyl in the 80's and most of it survived quite well. I've been reading up on QC of recent vinyl pressings since all these recent reports. I'm a bit disturbed not just because I find it sad that vinyl has taken such a dive in quality since the 70-80's with all the media changes, I want it to succeed and enjoy a deserved resurgence. But also because I haven't been able to play mine due to not having a turntable at the moment and don't know when I'll have access to one again so I can't rightly check out my copy either and have no idea if its faulty or not. Though there is a gouge on the side of my TCH on the second LP where the extra wax is cut off at the end of the pressing. I've honestly never seen such a thing in all my years of record ownership.

On the other hand, I have no complain whatsoever with TH's vinyl. A few crackles here and there, but nothing annoying really.

This is a reply directly from Warp on FB; "Warp Records We're sorry to hear about the issues with your copy. If you bought it from Bleep please email support (@) bleep.com otherwise please mail production(@)warprecords.com and we'll sort it out."

Bleep are sending me a replacement. Hopefully this one is good.

Edit: and by replacement I mean a new sides 3 and 4 disc.
