Have to disagree it doesn't sound like them to me, its just not clever enough, melodies that hook you in washes of effects, bleeps etc just isn't there, BoC's songs sound so organic and this does not.

I've not downloaded or listened to the aforementioned "leak".
What I think is funny, is that if the artist responsible had posted this up as his/her own work, it certainly not have received anywhere near as much attention as it has, regardless of how good it was.

I hope its not legit because I'd hate to think about BoC being all pumped for their new release and most people that heard the "leak" have been saying it was disappointing.

Why do people think it could be possibly legit? Is it just the music or something else? I just can't fathom where the legit bit has come from

It once again is ridiculous how much attention a faker gets... We, the fans, endorse them to put up fake tracks and get laughed at.
I instantly removed the topic to The Playground because I don't grant someone who "advertises" his music this way, regardless of how BoC it might sound.

At most it sounds like the brothers playing battle-shits in bathroom stalls.

if it turned out this "leak" was real I would be severely disappointed that 7 years of work resulted in this lol as has already been said.
But I don't even for a second believe this is BoC and it would make absolutely no sense in any context for new music to be leaked like this.
I have it on good authority from my brain and a recent dream that new material will be out in April but don't trust my brain he likes to lie sometimes

I'm late to the party on this "leak". Is it just 5 tracks we are discussing? If there are more, please point me in the right direction
The tracks themselves: I like them but the jury is out for me re if they are BoC. The tracks do sound "right" in several ways / places, though (just my opinion).
This will make me sound as old as the ark but I've been around for all leaks of genuine BoC since IaBPOitC and remember in particular the buzz/denials/shenanigans around the OT leaks several years ago.

For crying out load, it's quite clearly NOT BOC!!! It's a fun listen, but BOC? Really?? No way...

OMG. THE JURY'S STILL OUT! THAT MEANS IT MIGHT BE BOC!!
Of course it's not BoC. Get real guys. I don't even need to hear it to realise that. Man, such easy targets, like fish in a barrel.

Nah, nobody on this forum fell for it. Everyone's either talking hypothetically or trying to prod mdg into officially denying it so we can harangue him for more info on the real new album

LOL
The fake BoC season has begun! I love it! It's fun. Seriously, I'm not sure I've seen any other band getting as many fake internet leaks as BoC do. In a way, they did it to themselves, I guess.
For example, I've never understood why anyone would compile a set of múm/whatever tracks as a BoC album, like when before TCH came out. I probably never will. I think it's just some kind of trolling. But this is the future, this is taking trolling to a whole new level. Which just goes to show that making electronic music has become a streamlined household thing. Making music is easier than ever before. Making it meaningful has become somewhat harder, though. I sincerely think (or at least hope) that this is why it's taking Sandisons so long to deliver a new album.
As for these tracks - it's just recycled stuff. You've learned well, little padawan. Just release your shit under your own name and hope for the best, like everybody else does. Why kick yourself in the balls? You're not even getting ad hits for this.

I speculate that the new release may not click with me straight away... But just like the camp fire head phase it will sneak around my brain and have a lot of fun.. BoC = F**kin brilliant musicians. Two in a million.

so far. every post on this page of the thread. has been great. everyone seems patient and understanding as to why it would be taking so long.
it takes a while to take feelings and emotions and communicate them through music. i am sure the biggest boards of canada critics, are boards of canada. and they simply wont release the music until it meets their own satisfaction.
for all we know, the release might not be music only. maybe it will be a visual experience as well. containing hidden videos and stuff that goes with the music, who knows.

i agree. i believe that expectations are so high, that they are practically impossible to meet. but over time, once it becomes absorbed, it will be among our favorite work. who knows.

What always lurks at the back of my mind is the "reasons beyond their control" aspect that was alluded to more than once.
Once it's out, I hope the whole story will come with it.
