I'm actually don't like how THC sound at all, just put Exai to compare and the last one is definetly better , the best from the bundle sounds Mhtrc to me, most clear and detailed, Geogaddi also, but on some parts not very much.. I think I'm just gonna relax and wait for the EP bundle, which I gonna buy either way

Shame the album seems to have been poorly pressed. The other two are great.
replace with what? surely the entire pressing lot is bad? unless it depends, each day
the pressings can change if not all done at once, i dunno how it works in those places.
i'll see how it goes with the replacements, seems a lot of people are noticing it though which makes
me think, the replacements from same stock won't make much difference.
I assume they are taking note of this problem, and maybe sourcing spare parts for replacement?
Would be unlike Warp/Bleep to do nothing about this issue.

I was wondering...should the people that need a new TCH recieve a repress RSD vinyl?

If I'm thinking of the same thing you're thinking of, I think that might just be the pattern of the music making an interesting shape on the record itself. If the record were larger/the song were different it probably wouldn't be there.

I noticed it and am thinking the same thing its a bit like certain flow patterns on soundcloud but on a disc and obviously in a physical sense instead of a representation.

Haven't seen any copies of TCH in any record shops I've been to (in Bristol, UK). I'm sure Warp are aware of the issue!

I forgot to post my bleep support ticket:
dajahew1, Oct 24 16:59 (BST):
It appears that many people are having problems with the TCH repressings. On side D there's a click throughout the whole side, and there's a few scuffs here and there on both record 1 and 2.
this is a short clip from side D. i play a few seconds of the first track on that side, and a few seconds of the last track and the click is still there.
There's also a large smudge/scratch on side A, track 1:
Would you be willing to send a replacement?
Regards,
dajahew1
to which they responded:
TE, Oct 24 17:09 (BST):
Hi dajahew1
We are sorry that you have had these issues with your order.
Thank you for sending us these photos and the clip. We will arrange for a replacement for the damaged part of your order to be sent out.
Spare parts for all the Boards Of Canada album reissues will be arriving at the end of the week and we will ship you a replacement then.
Bleep Support
does anyone know if they will send just record 2, or a completely new copy of TCH?

They'll probably just send a new copy of the second disc in the inner sleeve. I had a problem my copy of MBV being horribly warped and My Bloody Valentine people sent me a new copy in the sleeve. I'm in a similar situation with the second TCH disc, except mine had a huge ass scratch on side B. Not the first time I've had a scratch on a brand new record straight out of the sleeve so I'm not sure how common an issue it is but Bleep were happy to replace it so I should be getting a new one soon.

I too haven't seen Campfire in any stores as of yet. Maybe they are sorting something out.

i've listen to the geogaddi reissue and there is definitely problems on a few tracks, mostly notably "corsair." there is quite loud distortion that ebbs in and out in sync with the track itself, and if you listen to the original 2002 vinyl (or cd for that matter,) that distortion is not there. it seems to relate to the treble frequencies, and renders the track almost unlistenable. it's definitely not just the regular pops and clicks of vinyl, since as i mentioned it's absent from the original vinyl, which is now 11 years old and thus should theoretically sound worse than the reissue, not better.
similar distortions occur with "a is to be as b is to c" and "over the horizon radar" but it's not nearly as bad. like "corsair," these tracks are at the end (or close to the end) of their respective sides. so the distortion may be related to their placement near the physical center of the record. it may have something to do with the vinyl grooves being closer together at the end of a record side. again, this distortion on "a is to b" and "radar" is absent in the 2002 vinyl issue and all digital formats.
however, the reissued tracks which AREN'T affected by this distortion (ie - the majority of them) sound great - maybe even better than the original 2002 vinyl. so its a shame that this manufacturing defect has tarnished what could have been a great reissue.

I wonder when Bleep will start shipping replacement copies of TCH?
I notified them of the poor sound quality and sent them photos of the imperfections on side 4 of the vinyl and also the damage to the record labels themselves.
Bleep have told me that they'll replace both discs. I don't mind waiting a while, as long as the replacement copies are without any problems.
I'll let you know when they arrive and report on their condition.

I've seen a few posts mentioning distortion in the treble frequencies on tracks that appear closer to the end of a side on the records. This sounds to me like inner groove distortion and can be created by a variety of factors from poor pressings to miscalibrated cartridges, needle types etc. I don't think there's any easy way to diagnose what is creating the problem though.

the vinyl was played on my friend's turntable - he's a total audiophile nerd who's extremely precise and meticulous about cartridges and needles. he also took the record to a high-end hi fi stereo shop in town and played it there with the store's owner to see if they could trouble shoot the problem but nothing worked. so it's unlikely that the distortion is cause by anything other than a manufacturing defect. furthermore we played the 2013 and 2002 pressings back to back on the same soundsystem and the distortion was only present on the 2013.

This sucks, but It's good to hear that I'm not the only one with this issue w/geogaddi. I'm glad you checked it out so thoroughly because I wasn't sure if it was my stylus/common mistracking, or if it was the actual vinyl creating the audio distortion. looks now that it's the latter...

Got my copy of the Geogaddi repress the other day! Ended up buying it NOT thru Warp, due to several dilemmas. Haven't listened to it yet (I'm waiting for my next acid trip lol) but from what I've been reading on here, the new DAT master sounds glorious, so I am pleased as punch.
Still bummed I missed out on the print..guess I'll be looking to eBay for that one.
