Yup, that's what I was afraid of from the moment I saw the word Societas (society) - it will not be their own material but just the mix of artists they like. What we can expect perhaps is that it will be reworked a bit, like in Trapped or Midas Touch ... idk

Saying that though, they've been plugging it alot on twitter and Facebook, seems strange to do that when it's not even there own music...

Societas can be defined as "unity". I. E. United by Tape,which we certainly will be.

We were never sure it would be solely their own material in the first place. I don't think this confirms or denies anything.

It's means as much as no info at all really, they still could do anything. Their own material or not.

Ok, true, but why would they say "selection"? I mean, if it's their own previously unreleased music then it's somewhat unnecessary to call it selection. However, I do still hope it's their stuff but it looks to me that it's less than 30% chance for that now.

It could be unreleased tracks but tracks not destined for any release in particular. Like 747 I bet its just a standalone tune. Bet they have loads of standalone tracks and maybe they are selecting some as a mix.. Like the old tunes and 35 randoms tape. . I don't think those were put together as albums just mixtapes, selections

It better be, it would be really stupid of warp to hype BoC up so much only to have them play other people's music.

This. They are not obligated to let us hear any new music, but come on this would be cruel.

Actually I think at every opportunity BoC (with the title), Warp (with the press release) and NTS (with this new line on the site) have used the words mix, tape, and selection.

Any hope of new BoC music has come from us. All official signs point to a mix of mostly other people's music I think.

Societas X Tape is a tribute to the song "I Love My New Shears" meaning... they chop cop chopped up some of their "Favourite" tunes that inspired them to make the music's we all love. And to be honest when "Societas X" is playing they'll be down at the pub drinking a pint. while we drool over the screen hoping they'll broadcast "Hooper Bay"!

Serious, If it really is a mixtape of their favourite bands. An album will be due sooner or later. It's all good fun so it seems to me me me.

We'll know in 6 hours and 42 minutes..
