People had so many years for the other ones to sink in that I honestly think it is not the right time to judge it yet. As someone else already said, ask me in a year. Personally I think all albums and EPs got better which each listen and I'm pretty confident TH will not be an exception.

After listening a good few times, and this morning walking into work with the sun beating down and taking a bit of the darkness out of TH, I'm beginning to think this might just be their masterpiece as others before have suggested. It's the way it distils all that went before into a more cohesive and confident whole, and it's wide open vibe.

YES! so glad others are with me on the masterpiece thing. I think they have raised the bar to incredible heights here.

I would rank it as the second best they have done after MHTRTC.

i love them all equally but it seems that TH is getting into my head more and more and more.....

I think it's the most cohesive, deep, engaging, experimental and best Boards of Canada record so far. It's not about the strength of individual tracks, it's about the album as a whole. They've created their "Dark side of the Moon"

I try to avoid the whole idea of ranking things in a list, it changes so often anyways and making a list of favorites is kind of unfair to how consistent they are across the board. They all have different feels that you want at different times, and the feel of TH is that it fits in with the rest of their output nicely.

MHTRTC will always have a special place in my heart for being the gateway to their music, and in terms of immediately falling in love with a record, TH is the first one since then, so maybe that means something.

Just trying to say that I try to enjoy each album equally, they all have moments I love and moments that I don't.

this one is really starting to grow on me, i might be starting like it more than geogaddi.........which i NEVER imagined would happen

i was thinking the same thing. i'm attached to each release in a certain way. having said that, TH will probably get more rotation than TCH because after the first few listens it sounds more precise and detailed IMO. it seems to me that on TCH they were trying to avoid some things that had become synonymous with their sound, like the 101-type synth flourishes, kids voices, etc. while trying out a few new things. it mostly worked but one or two of the tracks on the album didn't do it for me. i honestly haven't found one song on TH that don't like.
