I'm feeling a lot of angst at the situation frankly but it's not honestly like I wasn't expecting it really. I have a bitter taste in my mouth and it isn't just from all the tea I'm drinking to stay awake after my all nighter.

Initially I was voting Yes because I am so, so skeptical that we are capable of changing Westminster. But we voted for it, so we have to live with it. I think our next course of action... take the yes campaign south. Show the working man in the industrial towns of England and Wales that westminster runs scared and panders to the electorate when it's under threat. if we can mobilize the sort of numbers in england that we did in scotland then that could be a sizeable movement. it won't be easy, it might not even be possible... but we have to fucking give it a go, because that's just what happened and we all need to live with it now.

Absolutely. I voted the way I did for a number of reasons - one being that the social problems that the Yes campaign were highlighting as the reasons to go for independence were the same problems my family are surrounded by in the north east. Glasgow's problems are Manchester's, Newcastle's, Bradford's problems. It isn't the UK that needs a kicking, it's the toxic brand of neo-liberalism we've all lived with since Thatcher. That's what we need to fix through solidarity throughout the country.

Although I voted no, I'm glad it wasn't a landslide - the result should be the kick up the arse that Westminster needs.

I might not have agreed with everything Yes, but hats off for the campaign's energy and enthusiasm. The whole country should be proud of the turnout yesterday - 84.5% is incredible; nothing scares the bad politicians and energises the good ones like that sort of engagement.

Regardless of the result it was exciting to see people care about politics again and get engaged - let's hope we can keep that momentum up. The general election is less than a year away;now we're still stuck together let's use that energy and turn our guns on that hideous coalition government we have now...

I hope that the Yes campaign and the eventual result has the rest of the UK actively thinking about what can be done to make all of our country a better place. The incredible turnout truly shames our usual voter apathy. If some of that can carry through to the next General Election then we just might see some change.

I was utterly conflicted by what I felt about both sides' arguments. England would have been unquestionably a poorer place without the influence (culturally, socially, politically) of our neighbours. On that hand I desperately wished Scotland to stay a part of the Union. However, if I were resident in Scotland I would have undoubtedly wanted to send a defiant 'f*ck you' to Westminster.

I personally found it interesting that the region with the highest 'Yes' vote was Dundee, which coincidentally is where the majority of the people I know in Scotland reside.

Seriously incredible with the turnout. Just about the near inverse of the kind of turnout we see here in the states. I didn't hear much discussion of the topic at all over here, either.. which was a bit disappointing.

Sad to see some people have kicked off tonight, 1 step forward 10 steps back kinda feeling there. Still I am impressed with Scotland, even if the vote didn't go the way I wanted it to as an impartial viewer on the whole thing. I just hope it brings about some change, because this political malaise we seem to be experiencing at the moment is fucking awful.
