i was always disappointed that the only kind of music you could find for this was crappy badly transcrbed MIDI files.
when a friend hooked me up with some actual console recordings, i nearly died!

LED Storm (C64 version). Best abuse of a SID chip ever.

I would have to second that. No doubt. That's the other part of my lost childhood.

I recommend the sonic saga, it worked well cuz Masato Nakamura brings original and deeply melodies.. incredible how is executed on a 16-bit machine!
Yes the street of rage OST is beautiful, reminds me when I was a kid and playin all of those games.

Holy fuck, how could I have forgotten.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind has the best game music ever. Oblivion was composed by the same guy, but it just can't touch morrowind's greatness.
God, how many hours I've played that game..

I dig a bunch of the Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 songs...
Also Sims music, Idk why but that music fits so fucking good with buying furniture. I feel if I went to an Ikea and put that music over the intercom, I'd brainwash a bunch of bastards into overbuying tons of shitty furniture.
Also, can't forget Oddworld, some very ambient/creepy/spacey/amazing music.
Half-Life 2 as well. Speaking of which, I must redownload that soundtrack, as I love listening to it in the Fall. I feel like I'm in City 17.
And of course GTA 3; K-Jah 103 is where it's at! I love getting stoned and listening to it. And MSX radio is sweet too.

I LOVE the build musics, there's 6 tracks in all. Some of the prettiest, most autumnal piano music I've heard since Vince Guaraldi...

I agree, though some of the songs are rather depressing.
