i don't know guys, they could also make a lot of money releasing records and the bocset; it's not like they don't have enough material, there must be a different reason other than money i think...

this just reminded me of Entourage, when Johnny Drama gets an audition for "CSI:Minneapolis" i don't like any of those cop/laywer/doctor type-of-shows..

Since some here are miffed that BoC is on a "lame" TV show, what if they were on a kick-ass movie soundtrack? People would associate BoC with a great movie, but it would make them accessible to the masses (i.e. losing their "mystery"...)

i never really liked dayvan cowboy too much anyways to be honest, and yeah, to me it always was kind of lame and seemed like something you might hear on a tv show.

Did anybody ever see that episode of Blues Clues where BOC guest starred, and were shooting heroin between their toes with Steve? After that they made a mayonaisse sandwich and played a live performance of Infinite Lines Of Colourful Sevens.

I kinda agree here. I've had my positive listening experiences with Dayvan but by no means is it "sacred" compared to so many other BOC tracks. It's their single. If it makes them some cash, good for them. In some twisted ironic way, it actually makes more sense that a "lesser" track is able to do so.

Jeez. Anyone would think that our relationship to any particular track is dictated by whether or not it has been used commercially. Unless it becomes a global hit, inescapable as it blurts out of every shop and car stereo, then my feelings towards Dayvan Cowboy (or any other song) are exactly the same as the first times I heard it.

What next? Do we start discriminating against people who've only listened to it coming out of a cheap $50 stereo? Is their relationship to the song any less valid than someone's who played it on a $20,000 hi-fi?

Music exists in our heads. That's the only space that matters.

That's irrelevant. How do you know they weren't holding down full time jobs before MHTRTC? If they can stay at home all day and do music because of the odd usage on a TV show or advert then great.

If you don't want them to sully their perfect image why don't you pay them so they can afford not to?

I would assume that there was an advance involved in the creation of "Music.." as well as the other albums for Warp.

Or at least a lump-sum up front upon the signing of their contract.

I doubt they are going to get an bigger having one of their songs on CSI. How many kids watch that show? And how many kids would really think, "That was good back round music, I wonder who wrote it?". No, what they really thought was, "Hmmm, I wonder who killed that dude". And they thought the music was studio written stuff, just back round music for the show. If I never heard BoC, thats what I would think. I am sure they have played other music on there from bands I never heard of before, and I never gave it a second thought, cause I was watching the show.

Something I keep thinking about whenever one of these threads/comments pops up: If you didn't have TV or internet, you'd never know and probably never care.

BoC is essentially library music isn't it? perfectly normal for lbrary music to be used in tv shows, docus and ads no?
