I agree that BBC is a western propaganda outlet, but Hypernormalisation kind of bucks that trend. One of the rare pieces of media appearing on a mainstream channel that critiques mainstream media and the western military-industrial complex. I was actually fairly surprised it aired on BBC.

Russell Brand and Chris Hedges clearly do not understand the most basic aspects of the situation in Ukraine. These guys are just using the war to promote their cliche "anti-establishment" agendas. Noam Chomsky does the same thing. They don't mind overlooking or bending the facts to fit their distorted narratives.

Putin is an imperialist psycho who is carrying out a genocide against the Ukrainian people. He and his propagandists openly advocate for rebuilding the Russian empire, which means the military conquest of a huge chunk of Europe. His regime needs to be shut down, the same way that Hitler's regime should have been shut down in 1938 when the Germans wanted to annex Sudetenland. This is the way to prevent World War III, not appeasing Putin, as the allies did with Hitler in Munich.

I mean Russell Brand has kind of turned into a grifter but it's weird to frame any criticism of American War actions as doing so "just to be edgy." And it's wrong to even compare him to Noam Chomsky lol.

There is a fair and historical fact that the US has created and thrived as a nation on imperialism, whether it be through occupation or proxy wars. I'm not saying it's wrong that they're giving military support to Ukraine, but you have to at least admit that it is in its interest to make money through the military industrial complex. Therefore Ukraine is a convenient proxy for America at the same time as showing support. The two things can be true at once

I have lived in Ukraine and have family there. I know people who are fighting in the war. They are prepared to die to defend the country from Putin’s orcs. They don’t need to be pushed by anyone from outside to make these sacrifices. They will kill Russians, even if they have to use their bare hands. And I will support them in their struggle until the end. Fuck Russia.

I believe US and other western allies helped Maidan through media propaganda, shooting from windows at protesters, simply giving warm food during the protest.
