People earnestly using the phrase 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' to argue a case. Way to play yourself.

Johnny Marr when David Cameron said he liked listening to The Smiths.
"Stop saying that you like The Smiths, no you don't. I forbid you to like it."
Futile, but honourable.

The band themselves are likely outraged & rightfully so. You can care as little as you like like but it suggests that you don't really get the band & have a shallow understanding of artistic integrity.
Defending artists is so overrated and I don't think we should need artist's consent to use their work.
Much superior artistry comes from an upbringing of suffering and especially being oppressed and it would be much preferable that we leave those artists to fend for themselves and let the good ones shine out.
Artists should be non-conforming and there are no worse conformity than the law of copyrights and "owning" art even if you created it. I don't care for them to make a living out of their art, you need to make a living so bad; go grab an actual job.
I'm here for the music, not for Mike and Marcus, and if that means there's no music if there are no Mike and Marcus due to some unfortunate copyright issue being infringed losing them the so needed financial stability then so be it, I'll go listen to someone else it's not that big of a deal. But I know them to have a stronger passion than that to make their art and that's what i enjoy.

Johnny Marr is absolutely sound. All-over Good Guy.
As for "Trump derangement syndrome".... I just... don't like fascists.

I'm not here for the music. I'll tell you where I go for the music: My playlist
I am here to engage in discussion, sophistry or other types of yapping that I do, either smart or stupid, yes.

Hiphop/rap/electronic music has been sampling without consent since the beginning . What planet are you from?

Somewhat controversially, I found it completely apt, given the timeline of this current simulation. I bet BOC got a real giggle out of it, despite the obvious contradictions. I mean yes obv the Trump administration is an absolute horror show but for some politically confused, ageing 4Chan user intern, this was their moment to shine and drop a little easter egg to the world. I found it quite humorous and don't really get the indignation. I wonder how many people globally it got into BOC.

Never thought I would see the US empire crumble in my lifetime but here we are. I do hope the sane folk gain back control of the asylum soon but it's both fascinating and horrifying to watch.
it sucks how divided we are over here. it's impossible to describe how it feels and the news/videos people see do not do it justice. that's just the "flashy" stuff for the views. the day to day division is subtle and latent and it sucks. ok done ranting about the state of the union.
I heard there's a new album?
yup everywhere. Even in places like NYC that are “democrat” really only because it’s a majority female city.

4chan is how I found out about COVID-19 and its existing therapeutics in October/november 2019.
Meanwhile our corrupt mainstream media was telling us to go hug and kiss strangers in Chinatowns during Chinese new year Jan and feb 2020, led like sheep to the slaughter, forced to take fully
Experimental vaccines to keep their jobs and not end up homeless, while the 15 million that snuck over the border didn’t have to take any shots and were paid to live in luxury hotels in NYC

"I am here" standing in as "I am coming here before you today as a BoC fan"
Or maybe I said something quickly that was wrong and then corrected myself in the other reply, whichever you would prefer, I don't think it matters that much. Thankfully the other 99% of what I said don't stand on this like a fragile house of card.

"Hiphop/rap/electronic music has been sampling without consent since the beginning . What planet are you from?"
I'm from the planet where sampling is a completely different thing to just straight up lifting a track... You do know that Hip Hop artists have to seek permission & pay royalties for samples that they use, yeah? I was having a smoke with the lead singer of the Futreheads when Kate Bush rang to thank the band for releasing a cover of Hounds of Love as she had just received a big royalty cheque.
Using peoples art WITHOUT their permission is snakey af. It's that simple.
As for the 'Trump derangement syndrome' user... "A wise man told me not to argue with fools, because people from a distance can tell who is who".

There is no point engaging with this person, Rex. Not a hint of good-faith debate there.

One day I was walking, minding my own business, when a fool told me "Watch out for the pile of shit you are about to step into" but he was a fool so I didn't take anything he said as having any value.
My day was soon ruined when, to my dismay, I stepped in shit.
