Soylent Night. Each time I hear it, the melody is stuck in my mind for the whole day, it's awful.

Sherbert Head is the only song that disturbs me in a minor way. One voice in particular...it gets to me.

I love songs like You Could Feel The Sky, Statue of Liberty, House of Abin'adab...

God damn, You Could Feel The Sky is so disquieting.

Well, I don't really see how Beware The Friendly Stranger and In The Annexe are disturing, and I definitely wouldn't call Opening the Mouth disturbing.

The Devil Is In The Details and parts of A is to B as B is to C I can understand. Those tracks have their share of disturbing elements.



Honestly though, my vote wouldn't go to any of these. Off the top of my head I think I'll go with Smokes Quantity. There's something a bit fucked up about that droning noise and the high pitched notes that accompany it, I can't really describe exactly why. Other than that, BoC isn't really the sort of artist I'd consider to be disturbing.

Alpha and Omega often gives me an unnverving feeling. I think it's something to do with that dissonant sort of snake-charmer's-flute sample - it gives a sense of urgency and weirdness, coupled with the voices in the background it's quite unnerving but at the same time I still love it.

i find opening the mouth to be disturbing. even though i am reading that some of you disagree.

I always found 1969 to be particularly disturbing after I found out about its reference to the Branch Davidians. Something about the hopeful yet doomed ideas on the track about "being in the sunshine", compared to the fact that so many people there were killed. I also find it particularly disturbing to contemplate the idea of the sect considering Jesus' name to be "Branch", which for some reason seems extremely obscure and frightening to my inner mind. It is almost as if the whole experience contacts some sort of deeply-rooted unexplained childhood fear within me. No explanation for it except for the feeling of obscurity and foreignness it associates within me.

In the Annexe is just crushingly melancholic to me, and I love it. Out of the listed I would have to say The Devil is in the Details. Boards of Canada are seriously the only band that has made music I find genuinely upsetting and disturbing. Even in all of their tunes there is something kinda "off" about it and I really dig it.

And they can change the mood of a song with just one chord. Take Music is Math for an example, right after you hear "the past inside the present" at the beginning there is this subtle bass chord that bubble up. Bam! changes it all for a second.

Truthfully, and it is kind of amazing the two guys responsible for something like Roygbiv can create something like TDIITD.

I think Statue of Liberty is their most disturbing tune. The melody of that song is so twisted and haunting. But since that choice wasn't available, I went with The Devil Is In The Details. That song is just really warped, and overall pretty dark. Plus, it's a personal favorite.

I always thought Dawn Chorus was creepy and beautiful at the same time, when I first heard Geogaddi I fell asleep on my couch and then woke up during Dawn Chorus and it sounded like someone was being tortured in my apartment.

When I listen to "The Devil Is In The Details," I always think about a neurotic guy sitting in the corner of his asylum room...

I think You Could Feel The Sky is the most sinister for me, perhaps because the tracks leading up to it are relatively relaxing and lull you into a sense of comfort and security, and then You Could Feel The Sky comes on and it's like you're trapped by your own doing, and you can't get out.

House of Abin'Adab is also very un-nerving.
