Well LSD for me is a real “problem solver”. Everything is so “clear” in your head. Like you can easily put the puzzle together. You can think about the problems or feelings you have and think about them in a very different way as to being sober. It’s almost as if being sober clouds your thoughts somehow, as if reality is an illusion. It’s hard to explain.

Next to that it also changed my mindset about society today. The advertising and marketing you see today. People driven by money, greed and materialism. The shallow conversations people have. For me it was a huge eye-opener and it makes me FEEL a better person just to acknowledge these things. It’s kind of funny (or sad) to hear people around you stressing out over trivial day to day crap while they don’t seem to realize that there are much more important things in the world.

Another thing is my grown appreciation for nature. How could I have missed the beauty before? It's all in the details

Another thing I learnt is that only health and happiness matter. If people are unhappy, most of the time they don’t do anything about it. They don’t break their routines and daily habits. It’s all up to yourself to make a change. Break your habits and go out. Do what you like and do what you want.

I don’t know, I’m not really good at expressing my thoughts in English. Maybe others can explain their view on it better!
Excellent way to describe it, I agree! Especially how its a problem solver, and being sober clouds judgement. SO TRUE.

I am in suuuuuch need of a trip! Having trouble securing it as easy as I once did. Hopefully soon!

hmm I think lsd can certainly have positive, perspective cleaning properties but I also think intermittent sobriety is necessary as well. If you just fry all the time, well, then you're just going to be fried all the time. The positives of LSD were only reinforced for me once I was down from the drug, where I could actually apply what I learned rather than sit there trying to make sense of time or the overwhelming amount of sensory stimulation going on all the time. I think that these drugs have seriously positive implications but without respect, patience, and moderation it's just a drug that puts you out of touch with reality.

On a side note, I also may have acquired a few tabs recently

I've never tried a psychedelic drug, but I would like to someday (I find the idea of them to be absolutely fascinating), and I think BoC is the first band I would go to for my soundtrack.

Julie and Candy is what I imagine tripping sounds/feels like.

Used to drop, mostly enjoyed shrooms. Used to love old Pink Floyd on it, Absolutely Curtains (Obscured by Clouds) by a small fire with headphones at night alone changed me I just think. Loved Careful with that Axe Eugine and A Saucerful of Secrets. Never tried with BOC but think TH would be intense, Gemini, Jacaurd Causeway, Seeds of Death. These would be intense, one thing I have realized about enjoyment of music on substances is sometimes what you think you would enjoy, you do not. It is all subjective, I always enjoyed being in the woods or around nature with headphones. Ummagumma was great also, I could see TCH lending itself. Loved Axis by Hendrix also.

LSD to me always seemed like the best fitting psychedelic, or maybe the one that influenced their music the most. I think it's this perfect marriage of science and spirituality. Maybe store bought spirituality, but it's something special all the same.

I think the era that their music recalls was one where convenience and consumerism began to take precedence in the western world. LSD seemed to be the "fast food" psychedelic. It brought the psychedelic experience to western youth in a much more accessible and mainstream way than had ever been explored before.

I think of the shamanic use of ayahuasca, which would have a purging effect on the user, or psilocybin, which to me has always been a more "challenging" substance compared to LSD. Good clean LSD can you take a wonderful place as long as you're of sound mind and have the correct set and setting. It really went hand in hand with all the other modern conveniences that were coming to our society then.

Whether its accessibility and overall "friendliness" is a good or bad thing isn't for me to say, but it's ubiquity had a huge influence on the visual aspect of the 70s (ie. the sort of look and feel that their music recalls for me), whether it was how we dressed or what we saw in the movies. Sure, it started in the 60s but that colorful palette really stuck around until the Reagan era.

Not too politicize too much, but I think its horrible that the war on drugs had this equalizing effect on all drugs in the 80s. If you weren't educated about them properly, they were all "bad" for the same reason, and by the same token, once someone tried something innocuous, they might move on to something more dangerous and not realize it. I think you can kind of chalk up the crack epidemic of the 80s and meth in the 21st century to poor drug education and prohibition practices.

I think this had a horrible effect on LSD, marijuana and other psychedelics that mainly became illegal because they contributed to making people more thoughtful of their place in the world, and what they'd be willing to do or not to do to be a success in life, rather than being illegal for any real physical health reasons.

I don't think LSD gets the respect it should have these days, it seems like people are either afraid of it, disregard it as a "hippie drug" or you see people into harder drugs dabble with it once in awhile as just another way to get high. Some people are into it for the "right reasons" but they are few and far between. It would be nice if it was somehow attainable without having to deal with some undesirable types.

I really wish it was something that would come back into the mainstream someday, with more scientific studies related to how it works.

I'd have to disagree with this statement. It sounds like a bit of a generalization really. I wouldn't say psychedelics increase the perception of the sound, but more distorts or alters the perception of the way we hear sound. Not trying to knock you down here dude (I may have misread the point you were making), and I know everyone experiences things differently, but it's kinda like saying you need to be ripped off your tits on acid/shrooms/dmt/whatever to fully appreciate or get the most out of the music. I don't agree with that one bit. I've had many tripping experiences over the years where music just hasn't made sense to me at all, and I've had to get away from it.
Hey, sorry for the late reply! English isn't my first language so I guess that was not the best way to describe it in that sentence. I think you said it very well, that it alters the perception in a certain way.

I completely agree that you don't need psychedelic substances to fully appreciate the music, not at all! I only meant to say that I sometimes notice much more detail in the music and in particular in the several layers of music combined, which I would never notice when sober. I don't know, its probably hard to explain in the first place and to do this in English is even worse for me :P

I also agree that in some phases it becomes very chaotic and music can seem to make it even more chaotic. It's just very weird because after the chaos you can experience a certain moment of clarity where everything seems to be aligned, including the music.

Psychedelic experiences are hard to put into words, damn :)

I do think it changes the way all of our senses function. To me it feels like everything is dialed up to 11, whether its music, our emotions, visuals, everything to do with our senses. BoC is an interesting experience on LSD. I have picked sounds out that I used to miss while sober.

I think there is something to music and psychedelics, if you look at bands like the Grateful Dead, their music is basically designed from the ground up to be appreciated under the influence. Whether you enjoy their music or not, I think it's easy to say that the two go hand in hand.

Not saying BoC is better on LSD, but just like everything enjoyed through that prism, it's different and a refreshing change now and then.
