I'm a gigantic fan of this Roygbiv cover -

Otherwise, I haven't heard too many. I'm going to check out the remixes that Wisp did soon, though. (At the bottom of this page - http://www.wisp.kaen.org)

LOL.... addidng a drum track to a song is now considered a remix? I didn't like those "remixes" at all, sorry.

If you're talking about the ones Wisp did, I haven't even listened to them so there's no need to apologize. For all I know they ARE just pisstakes, I've never been a huge fan of Wisp myself but I did like what he did to the SAW2 tracks by Aphex, so hey.

At least they're free, though.

I didn't listen to the Aphex tracks yet. But he barely did anything to the BoC tracks. And what he did do was hardly noteworthy or anything spectacular. Not klnocking the guy, just in this case, the songs were hardly changed.

Its just an exercise. Practice if you will. My mixing skills are horrible. So I practice through emulation.

I'm right there with you "the letter p". I've tinkered with AR a lot with my 101/202/303/606/808/909 combo.

The 101/202 just get the sound sooooo close.

Don't want to be a hater. but I listened to the Wisp Aphex tracks. And again, all he did was add some drum sounds (bad ones at that) to the already excellent original. To me this doesn't amount to much. But to each his own. The Peel sessions version of "Olson" is what I would call a re-mix/reimagining.

Letter P. Your mix is fine. It is natural for someone who wrote music to not be able to see the forrest through the trees. In other words, you are so close to the creation its hard for you to step back and be objective. Thier is nothing wrong with the mix. And stop comparing to mastered CD's otherwise you are going to beat yourself up all day!

can you explain further what makes you say this? what audio qualities lead you to say this?

Well basically, I had no idea a guitar could really produce sounds like that. For all I know, Smokes Quantity may be guitar based as well.
