Apparently, Lynch was having a conversation with Laura Dern and she mentioned that her husband was from the Inland Empire. I guess he really liked the sound of it and used it as the title for his film.

I have traversed the rocky terrain of the desert in Arizona from the start of the day, cycling in the desert during the sunrise....until dusk, where I sit back and watch the orange glow across the horizon fade into black.

At which time I'm usually finishing a randomly generated playlist of the entire BoC discography and One Very Important Thought is accompanying the sunset. It's seriously mind-boggling.
