First off I just want to say that eventhough there is a strong conflict of opinion runing through this thread, I still think that it is producing an interesting meeting of minds where people are in the main able to exchange ideas with articulaltion and intelligence. And that in its own right is a good thing.

This good verses evil thing is as old as time itself and history has told us that differnt cultures and races are able to form their own constructs based on belief systems that validate a collective point of view. Take the crusades for example. Here the catholic church actively supported war against the muslim world eventhough it contravened the basic tenet of the faith - namely that killing is wrong. So we are discussing a subject which always has - and always will - have blurred boundaries.

Christian iconography has used imagery as a way of instructing the brethern about the perils of evil ways. Take any catherdral as an example and you will see gargoyles incorporated into its decoration. Did that make the church leaders evil because they had sculpures of the devil tempting the virtuous. Referencing or acknowledging the existence of evil does not make you evil. And this is why BOC are in my mind are not the spawn of satan. They are just two guys who are intrigued by numerous facets of the human condition. Be that the elated sensation that can be gained from looking at a beautiful landscape or the chilling sensation that can be gained from the raw emotions created by experincing fear. if I thought for a second that BOC were actually a whacked out cult that were up to real sick shit then I wouldnt think twice dropping them. The devil is in the details - but heaven is in a wildflower:!:

as i said in at least two different posts, i'm not here to preach. i was just contributing to the conversation. my opinions. at no point have i tried to imply that i am right and you are wrong. if you're sick of hearing it then why dont you go to a different thread? i believe i'm staying on topic, derail. as for your argument of "where's your proof" it's clearly a pointless question to ask of any sort of faith-based system. of course i've thought about it. you either believe in something that exists outside our sensory experience, or you don't. again, IMO, thinking that human beings is the upper limit of intelligence is laughable to me. so i choose, maybe just out of hope, to believe in something greater that we dont have the capacity to fully perceive. that's fine if you think it is silly, but i think i'm perfectly within the thread's context to present my opinion.

powerlinemisfortune wrote:You know its funny because if you have the chance to engage any seriously devout person, the conversation becomes an all out laugh riot. People recite only what rhetoric is spewed to them by their priests/pastor/whatever and not what is actually found in the bible, or at least the original bible. The book has been edited so many times over the past thousands of years that the book cannot be taken seriously. Parts have been taken out purely to align itself better with certain religious sects and likewise parts have been added. The bible is NOT "God's word" like so many say but rather a book of personal opinions and beliefs. Not one word was written by "God" or "Jesus" but by those who (for the sake of this conversation exist) where there to witness the events that are written down. There are so many flaws in the book and in organized religion that its almost ridiculous. For people who are suppose to be all loving, compassionate people, they sure as hell can be down right ignorant and self-righteous. I've gotten into so many arguments and the points that always shut down the religious people are as follows. One, in the beginning of the book we are told that God created ALL men in his likeness, correct? Yes, they reply. Ok, well how do you feel about gay's? "They are heretics and are going against God's will and will pay for their sins" Ok, well didn't God created gay people? Obviously he did but they argue that its a choice to be gay. HAHAHAHAHAH Trust me, you're born gay, theres no 16 year old kid in his room thinking "well people already make fun of me for my looks and my actions and girls really dont seem to like me, so why don't i invite even more hatred into my life and turn gay? COME ON. This just proves that the bible is a collection of interpretations and beliefs and not decreed so by "God" Also, like my old friend Bill Hicks would say "What about dinosaurs?" If the bible covers everything, where the fuck are dinosaurs?! You think it would come up somewhere! But alas, have no fear, religion has an answer. Because we all know how inaccurate and deceitful science is, the bones of dinosaurs are not real but were put on this earth to fool the non-believers. (I've actually been told that) Wow, I didn't know God had nothing better to do with his time then fool the people he created and loves so dearly. So there you go, science is wrong!

Ha, second post and another religious rant.
I'm glad that someone else agrees with me about the gay thing. I had to explain that to my mother a few times before she accepted it. I also heard about the dinosaur bones thing. I thought it was freakin hilarious.

sorry lone i had to take this pix with your heading. just seems like it suits here.
anyway.
as we all say on this forum.i accept anyones religion as long as it causes no harm to anyone or anything. Christianity, as we all know is opposite. and no matter what, it will always be around because, imo, people who leave the church seem to go back as soon as they have a kid. dont know why but they do and thats a fact, in my town anyway.
for me i do belive there is somethig out there that is watching us saying to "its"self, " fuck what have i done, maybe if i leave it, it will all figure its self out".

and i shall leave it there. :)

man, i'm sorry for christian fanatics... they're all like:
"i'm not judging you, but you're going to hell!"
"i'm not judging you, but the bible should be the law of the land!"
"i'm not judging you, but i'm right and you're wrong"
" i'm not judging you, but my pastor -you know, the guy who wears expensive suits and lots of gold- told me that you need my help even though you don't know it yet! let me help you by trying to change the constitution!"
and so on and so forth...

I think some people are getting the fear here.

C'mon, don't you know subliminal messages are rendered useless when you are aware that they are present? (you know, sometimes when I listen to the devil in the details i tell myself it isn't going to fuck me up, haha. that's not subliminal anyways. subliminal is when its HIDDEN.. and remember, your subconscious can understand something when it is said backwards. uh oh)

That trailer didn't phase me at all. I was just like "ha, it says kill and 666, how bout dat".. and thought the porn thing was just about their music.
But now I see it might be a commentary on fear. Yeah I guess it all refers to idiots, cults, and bearded ladies being ruled by fear and like.. how stuff sucks like that.
you poor christians wont get a break when you're dead. it will be a long while before your mind deprograms.

this is the fucking matrix you know. 8)

well i'm glad i helped spark an opportunity for some of you to stand up and shake your fist at fundamentalist christians. does anyone actually care though? i mean, seirously, has anyone on the internet ever had an opinion that supported fundamentalist bible-thumping anti-evolution anti-gay "christianity"? and exit, did you know there is a difference between christianity and catholicism? also, i was curious, is english your first language?

anyway. i've come to the conclusion that you guys are pretty boring AND ignorant (in my opinion). i'll go back to lurking on far more interesting message boards than this little piece of JV bullshit. bye now!

Wow, this guy is full of irony! Jesus freak is calling us ignorant, hahah awesome! I wasn't posting my religious beliefs to cheese anyone off, merely because I enjoy engaging in such conversations. My opinions are mine and mine only and if others share those opinions , then so be it. In no way were my messages directly related to you or your faith. Like I said, whatever yanks your crank.

Oh and thats a downright Christian like attitude you have there and your use of profanity only exemplifies your deep religious beliefs.
