BoC Tour

Just to update the status of this lovely little thread which has spread like wildfire through the buzz-o-sphere... I've seen reference to this rumor on several other sites now.

The OP of this WHAT thread hasn't said much after their first post, choosing to play along with the general "ARE YOU 4 REALZ?!?!" vibes.
This post made it sound like they were admitting to pulling our chain, as they quoted another user who called bullshit on the matter.

But then the OP posted this similarly vague claim of innocence:

And that's all they've said.

Reading some of the OP's other posts, they seem like a pretty upfront person, not just a typical troll. Though I couldn't check their downloads and so I can't tell if they're a diehard BoC fan or not. I'd figure if they were totally honest an real fan they would have posted here first so

.

On a plus note, BoC were mentioning in a 2005 interview that they were doing an overhaul of their live setup and performance in order to be able to do more shows. Maybe things have finally come together or that.

There's being hopeful and being realistic though. I couldn't pick up on anything on that screencapped post at all...

Neither do I, but while it doesn't mean BoC is going to tour, it also doesn't BoC ISN'T going to tour some time in the future.

Not going to happen, they have already expressed thier dislike in doing live shows. Why now all of the sudden when they have yet to release a new album in how long? This news would be more firm if it came out AFTER a new album, not before : /

My take on the live show 'thing' was that they'd said they wanted to do some again in the future, but it had to be in the right setting - ie. not supporting the Foo Fighters at Wembley, for example. Besides, things change. Hell one day we might get to see Kate Bush live..

This tells me they do not like to tour. This was in one of thier most recent interviews (01/2006). What more recent interview have you seen that contradicts this? They don't want to tour. There are similar interviews before this as well that practically say the same thing.

I can't place the interview now, but they did say that they'd be interested in doing more live shows at some point. That was either just before or just after they released Campfire. They said they'd had offers to support Doves and (as I recall) joked that their appeal probably wouldn't go extend to the crowd at a Foo Fighters gig. I might be paraphrasing there - I don't recall exactly now.

My point is this - people change. Clearly they aren't a touring band. This is more than clear from the lack of live gigs over a number of years. However, other bands have gone years without playing live, only to return to the fray later. Stars of the Lid is one that springs to mind. I'm not saying there is anything to the message that started this thread whatsoever - it could be total bullshit. However, I choose to be hopeful.

The alternative, as I see it, is to choose to give up on BOC and go do something else. Same applies to the will they/won't they release another album. This is all perfectly fine, we all have our own opinions based on the information we have to hand. But if we did choose to write off our chances of seeing them live and/or hearing a new record one day, that would rather beg the question - what are we all doing hanging around on this website for exactly?

Time will tell.

I am still hopeful of a new album, but not so on them touring. If or when they release a new album, then a glimmer of hope of them touring may arise. My point to this is - don't count your chickens before the eggs are hatched, then again that is just my opinion and you can feel free to choose to be hopeful despite this information
