Barton Fink



Surprisingly good! I see some Lynch comparisons on the IMDB message board, I can only agree with that, it's full of surrealism and interesting metaphores. After Lebowski and maybe No Country For Old Men by favourite Coen brothers film thus far.

I remember Milhouse and some other kids chanting Barton Fink in an episode of The Simpsons from long ago so I've been aware of it for years. Now I must see it!

last film i watched was 'streetwise'. highly recommended!

A masterful expression of moral ambiguity. And directed by Ben Affleck! Pretty surprising.

At Wal-Mart they have Requiem For A Dream and Pi as a double feature DVD for like $10!

The only thing I can't stand about Requiem was the at the end where he gets his arm cut off, you can clearly see his real arm tucked to his side, come on! Haha. Good movie though!

I watched Bicentennial Man way back when it came out in 1999. I was 12 then, and it made me cry.

I watched it again just the other day. I began to choke up again right at the end. What a powerful film.

I had to switch to playing Far Cry 2, just to keep from bawling.

i just watched Tideland. I wouldn't recommend it. I think it's the most lugubrious and sinister film i ever saw.. I feel sad, sick and empty (and a little frightened i must admit) wonder if i'll sleep at all tonight we'll see

Taxi Driver (At first, i was like, oh no.. this film is gonna be boring as hell... how wrong i was!)

I also watched Waking Life on Film4, back in March or something. Caught about an hour of it, very weird, but good.

i cried too, it takes a lot do have that effect on me normally

Finally saw it, it's on iplayer for any UK guys who want to watch it.

While being interesting, recounting the events seems to be a performance by Philippe Petit and much of it seems fabricated due to his mad ego. Incredible achievement but he changed immediately due to the fame he discovered from the walk, abandoning his friends to be deported and never really giving the thanks or credit they deserved. While it was amazing to watch, having done a little more research after watching, it seems a lot was left out and relies so much on the account of Petit himself that I'm not sure it really succeeds as a documentary.

Still recommended though just for the performance itself which was pretty mindblowing. Kinda made me wish I was someone else while I was watching.

hahahaha. man i love the old simpsons.

I'm gonna say 'Threads', feature-length drama the BBC did about the before and after effects of a nuclear war on two families from Sheffield. It goes from about a month before the bombs right up to 13 years after and the next generation of kids growing up in the ruins. Scarily realistic and bleak. Not a feelgood movie, but totally brilliant and powerful. You can get it on Google Video too

But seriously, DON'T watch it.
