You think? Cool. I was wondering that too.

Is it true that interference is quite common on SW, so some of the other artefacts could be genuine stuff from the ether?
totally, interference is everywhere in radio signals. when you think of whats going on via physics, its kind of remarkable it works as well as it does. 3 meter waves from 8000 miles away, bouncing off of the atmosphere!? huh?! yet it works. its amazing stuff. i highly recommend getting a little radio or two and listening late at night. can be spooky. a small artifact i recorded months ago to illustrate what kind of interference, static, and tuning in between frequencies can sound like: http://soundcloud.com/geometrie/inabewyreyesberchaswunk
are there any beginner/cheaper radios you'd recommend?

hope this isnt annoying anyone, but i guess it applies to the codes/transmissions... plus were all just kind of waiting around anyway for the next clues. :) yeah, i love older grundig shortwaves. any $100 one will essentially get you something you can use for over a decade very well. i have a grundig s350 and an icom icr-20, which is what that sample was recorded from.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shortwave_radio some great basic reading on the subject.

i have a distinct feeling they played their samples through an fm transmitter needed for like an ipod in a car and tuned it in from across a room on a fancier radio that could get in between the freqs. i did this for a record about 8 years ago, somewhat inspired by geogaddi's sounds but had no real evidence of that as the process.

well, the hex code translates to "anton is great :)", so seems like a prank...

in relation to the one posted with the morse code that drsoul referenced above, and then ------/------/------/------/xxxxxx/------, that people have said is a fake, the morse code on that translates to corsair, have all the corsair videos been checked? also, could the time at which that code popped up be the code? 2:15/2:51? sorry if thats been covered already, but theres 350 pages to mill over here, it;s hard keeping up!

I sort of have it in the back of my head that the NPR "clue" might actually be the cipher. Maybe there will be 2 more clues? Interesting times ahead. I have a feeling that this thing will get wrapped up by the end of the weekend, one way or another so Pitchfork and company can have it out there on Monday morning for all the regular folks to see.
holy balls batman! i hope you are right cause that is a good idea :)
Yeah - mentioned this a few pages back - this is my theory too!

Hello!

Look what i have found:

http://gridreferencefinder.com/?gr=NT71 ... 9562|1&v=h

Now, try to connect the points: NT336699 to NT669966 to NT669933 to NT669900 to NT996666 and to NT669966 again. Then NT669900 to NT649562. How did i get this last number? Well, 1977: 1+9+7+7=24, 2+4=6. Then, Snow is 4 letters, Computing is 9, Amateur footage is 14: 1+4=5, Beards is 6 and synthesizer is 11: 1+1=2. Maybe this is too complicated, but, anyway, we can exclude this point.

Let me explain, how i've got these points:

336699 = Closest websafe color of 247996 (which is reversed 699742)

669966 = Closest websafe color of 649562

669933 = Closest websafe color of 519225 and 699742

669900 = Closest websafe color of 628315

996666 = Closest websafe color of 717228

I don't know, maybe all this does not mean anything :?

Oh wow yeah, great call! Would explain why there has been no clear intent to hint where it should be placed.

I think it is to prevent people figuring out the right order before the final clue comes in, helps to alleviate the risk of brute-force finding of... whatever :D

I have a feeling that the NPR missing placement info is deliberate, either that or we missed something. I think we're due for a good matrix of all the clues, locations and theories up to date and start thinking again, yes?

The idea behind number stations is the the key/cipher would NEVER be part of the transmission, so that it was completely safe. So if this is related to number stations, I doubt the NPR has anything to do with being the key/cipher.

Speaking of the hex code on that page "talk to poacher", does this have any relevance?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincolnshi ... station%29

Numbers stations used to be quite common apparently, and "talk to poacher" would suggest listening to one with a name similar to this. Obviously, this could be fake...

All 3 tracks are from the Conet Project, so I would say it's a fake.

Hello!

Look what i have found via UK Grid Reference Finder:

http://preview.tinyurl.com/c8r7o7q

http://tinyurl.com/c8r7o7q or http://gridreferencefinder.com/?gr=NT71 ... 0|NT699742|
1,NT6690093300|NT669933|1,NT5190022500|NT519225|1,NT3360069900|NT336699|1,NT9960066600|NT996666|
1,NT7061036680|Point_s_T|0,NT6529633076|Point_s_U|0,NT6690096600|NT669966|1,NT6280031500|NT628315|
1,NT6690090000|NT669900|1,NT7126839188|Point_s_|0,NT6490056200|NT649562|1&v=h

Now, try to connect the points: NT336699 to NT669966 to NT669933 to NT669900 to NT996666 and

Beards is 6 and synthesizer is 11: 1+1=2.

Now you must see some kind of arrow pointing to the Isle of May!

Let me explain, how i've got these points:

I used colorhexa.com to find that:

336699 = Closest websafe color of 247996 (which is reversed 699742)

669966 = Closest websafe color of 649562

669933 = Closest websafe color of 519225 and 699742

669900 = Closest websafe color of 628315

996666 = Closest websafe color of 717228

I haven't a clue what all this stuff is, the codes, hex stuff and whatever BUT its still fun reading what everyone thinks.
