Got a new one after relistening to In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country entirely for the first time in years:

Amo Bishop Roden and especially Zoetrope are amongst their very worst songs, never understood the apply for ABR, which seemed like a okay track the first time i listened to it (I already knew it was pretty popular in the fanbase), but felt more and more lazy and unimaginative (especially compared to Kid for Today on the same release) everytime i came back to it (rarely that's for sure, but it's not my fault if this track is bland).

The worst is when people say the EP is a teasing of Geogaddi or can be compared to it. Just, not at all, in fact. You better apologize to His Greatness right now, or it's you that will be send in a horrible place really out of everything.

Oh and In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country (Edit) should have appeared instead of the original version. Fading out the track is lazy and boring.

I love ABR so much. I get that it doesn't offer much in terms of progression, but in reality, most BoC tracks don't. They often build their music around a singular beautiful idea, with little details evolving over the course of the track's duration. Some of these singular ideas resonate more with certain people, and ABR's just so happens to have me in a chokehold.

Definitely agree that the EP feels totally unrelated to Geogaddi, though. Obviously there are surface-level thematic similarities with the Waco/Koresh stuff, but in terms of vibe and sonics, it's a very different release.

"Macquarie Ridge" is the kind of track that could only be a closer or the opener to the second half. When played after "Peacock Tail" it almost sounds like a sign of things to come or something like that.

So I was wondering if it would have been possible to have a CD version. Wouldn't the maximum duration have been exceeded?

It's the case unfortunately, for like 3-4 minutes. The only way to have these 20 tracks on a single disc is probably to shorten Farewell Fire a little bit.

They are probably better separated, but I maintain that we don't need to have Dayvan Cowboy two times, and if it's not on Trans Canada Highway, Odd Nosdam's remix is de facto useless.

Also, I read some previous pages, and found my alternate tracklistings for Boc Maxima and Music Has the Right to Children, made in a way they will contain only original tracks or versions (as reusings bothered me at the time, and they still do ):

I was wondering how long they would last, and, thanks to bocpages, I especially realised they have flaws. I hadn't noticed that on BM (the one we know!), Rodox Video and Nova Scotia Robots appear on different versions that on Old Tunes. So they're valid for my own BM, you'll just have to rename them to avoid confusions.

Same can be said for Smokes Quantity on MHTRTC. It's a sligthly different version than the Twoism one. It's even the better one imo.

Here are the corrected versions:

Ok, it seems that my correction needs another correction, as it appears that Roygbiv (Alphaquest Mix) didn't exist until May 15th, 1997 (I probably forgot about that detail), so no way it can be on a late 1996 album.

It means that I'm forced to move it (along with Boc Maxima, which becomes Bocuma again) to my alternate MHTRTC.

It's not so problematic, as both tracks probably fits MHTRTC's "universe" better, and I will be lying if I said that I don't associate Roygbiv with it in the first place. But to be honest, since I've discovered Alphaquest Mix, I don't listen to the standard version anymore.

So Boc Maxima gets back to 15 tracks and MHTRTC increases to 16.

Okay I've been holding myself from saying this but, I think Boards of Canada are actually full on conspiracy theorist. Considering the "FEMA Camp" sample in Split your Infinites and the mentions of The Branch Davidians in 1969 I don't think these samples were put there just for the sakes of aesthetic.

In another thread I made asking about the meaning behind these samples called "Cults and conspiracy" someone actually found an interview snippit where BoC actually admit there songs have a "political message" but don't wish to explicitly say what it is at fear of becoming known as the "X activist" artist.

All I'm saying is that maybe there's a reason the duo are so secretive.

Now to counteract all of that, I'd sure love to see what goes on down at Hexagon Sun. Been some years since I've been thinking about all the weird or absurd stuff could possibly be occurring with their secretive collective.

Yes, it's quite obviously a cult. I heard the reason album 5 is taking so long is that the lads spend most of their time running about remote parts of Scotland in kilts with keytars, sacrificing haggis to sate the god of the old testament.

I think if anything, they live by their own philosophy

The recommended books during the TH interview session were all apocalyptic in nature, so there is a non-zero possibility of them being preppers. However, they also have been doing the post-modern ironic detachment thing since Geogaddi in claiming that they're interested in just the aesthetic of conspiracies as window dressing.

I would guess they have taken to subsistence farming. At this point, who really cares about conspiracies when everything on the surface is bad enough.
