Oh no of course, Loveless is incredible.

And in anyway am I not hating on mbv, by the standards of comeback records its actually pretty good.

It's just that as some people around the net have said, with all this hype and preparation, there's no way that this could not have been disappointing.

Also really made me appreciate Loveless more.

Yeah I might be on the same boat as you Fuj. I came home from a party pretty high to learn that it was released so got to listen to it at 6 a.m in the dark of my room, slowly falling asleep. I couldn't have asked for a better way to listen to it the first time round if I tried.

Yes that does sound like a very good way to listen for the first time. It's quite a druggy sound, i've read a few reviews which regard it in that way. I love it.

I quite like the new album, actually! I'll wait for the Japanese physical release and pick that up.

I feel a cobweb-blasting walk to work tomorrow.....

I've tried to give it a break today, because I spent pretty much ALL of yesterday listening to it. Like Loveless, I think it's going to reveal itself gradually to be even better than I initially thought.

I think its a grower for sure, but then MBV are the epitome of music which grows on you.

One thing is for sure, its exciting to have a new album in post to me. Can't wait to spin that vinyl

I just wish a current band from this era could create as much excitement or something as brilliantly original as MBVs sound. It's kinda sad that a band who are probably past their peak create considerably more buzz than any other current music out there. I love this band, but I wish their was an original heir to the throne..

I'd say the closest was A Sunny Day In Glasgow. They're obviously influenced by shoegaze, but there's more originality to their sound (due in part to their chaotic, fragmented song structures) than a lot of the other "shoegaze revivalists".

I am addicted to this album.. As soon as it's finished I can't wait to get it another spin. Could easily end up being one of the top albums of the year! So glad they're back

I definitely need to find the time to give it a few more start-to-finish spins, but I know it'll be one of my albums of the year. It's definitely an album of two halves -- the Loveless-esque beginning, followed by the excursions into Shields' post-Loveless interests (loads of these tracks showcase the sounds hinted at in his remixes and miscellaneous releases -- 'is this and yes' sounds like a progression on that Louis Armstrong cover) -- which I think makes it feel a bit more like a period compilation than a full album.

But, who cares? It's great, and opens up the possibility for us to hear what MBV sound like now (as we'll find out in 2050, when the m b v follow-up material comes out sounding like ethereal brostep with added kazoos).

Well, I think they have an EP of all newer or current material that is coming out this year as well.

I kind of hope it's more in the vein of the Lost in Translation ambient stuff. I just love that atmosphere.

As someone who never really listened to mbv- this lp is pretty good. I don't think I've ever given loveless a full listen either...

only tomorrow has a lovely Beatles-y vibe to it (is it me, or is the beat very like a slowed-down Tomorrow Never Knows?)

The last 3 tracks are going to sound INSANE live. I think Kevin's time playing with Primal Scream really show on those final tracks.

Wonderful, wonderful album.

Finally giving this a headphones listen and yummmmmm yummmmmm yummmmm. The distortion on 'Only Tomorrow' is fucking delicious.

Better than Loveless imo.
