Tunes are so amazingly danceable and not only in a braindance or headbanging way. Y'all should check out streams of people doing the freeform lizard for Propechy and Father and Son and especially All Reason Departs.
I was in one of them, fooling around.

On my Santa's wishlist, other than a BoC ambient record is an EDM-adjacent installment, packed with banger after banger.

Somebody has posted an 'Early demo version leak" of Father and Son, supposedly from 2024, to YouTube

Credible?

And the son reminds me of Lindsay Graham, which may be why I dislike hearing it so much.

Any Pearl Jam fans here? The opening reminds me so much of Master Slave, which is the opening few seconds of Ten and then again at the album.

I find it interesting that this song seems to be 'controversial' among BoC fans/maybe people in general ?
I concur that the mix is a little off (vocals too loud) but other than that I find it entrancing, addictive, super satisfying.
the track itself is a bit overshadowed by the vocals, but is an amazing little piece. love that they seemingly challenged themselves with this one. I'am sure there were many late nights in Hexagon Sun making microscopic tweaks.

Yeah, it's just the loudness of the vocal samples, they're more than prominent in the mix, they're dominant and somewhat obnoxious - Especially the first couple of times you hear them.

At the Sonic Boom listening party (in Toronto), those samples were VERY loud on the monitor speakers, so my wife and I had a bit of a "wtf" reaction. She said she thought it sounded like 'YouTube Poop' from 2006.... IYKYK.

I think the way they were mixed into the track is just the brothers attempting to keep the listener on their toes. F&S is so VASTLY different from Capricorn that it's quite jarring to hear it right after such a pretty track!

This track took the longest to grow on me. I loved almost all of the other tracks from the get-go but this one took a few listens for me to fully enjoy. I dig it now, though. :D

I vividly remember hearing this for the first time at one of the record store listening events and having the weirdest reaction to the voice. It felt somehow like no longer being in the album, but in a good way? Like disassociation or something. I can see how it's jarring and off-putting to some, but I really dug the uncanniness by my second listen.

I think their intention was to create the effect of the vocal samples rapping, so the song is deliberately mixed in this way. The drums and keyboard part are also explicitly hip-hop.

Why can't you bring that same PINGAS home?

Lmao. "Well, I hardly believe that your own spaghetti or PINGAS or DINNER could be your enemy!"

I'll stop now. I am not 18 anymore.

Imagine if they’re literally nostalgizing early Youtube Poops for that vintage nostalgia factor? What era were they reminiscing with MHTRTC? Late 70s? Their own childhood? Well those YTPs are now just as old as that period was in 1998

Never thought I'd see the day that two of my most ostensibly disparate interests, YTP and BoC intersected, but here we are.

That's funny, the mixing/mastering on Age Of Capricorn was way more startling to me initially than F&S, but some of the pitched glitches definitely tripped me out too. AOC is just like, so many things and voices going on at once, and the album is mastered so loudly anyway it was just hard for me to listen to. Now I'm obsessed. I do think the vinyl master is so much better than the digital, however.

That would be absolutely unreal, but in this bizarre timeline anything is possible!
Do the brothers ever take samples from YouTube? Or is that beneath them? Is it strictly from old tapes and/or DVDs? I think I already know the answer to that, lol.

Right? A trip-hoppy BoC track reminiscent of something so wacky from the 2000s was definitely not on my Bingo card for this year.

Oh, absolutely! The vinyl sounds amazing, and I think that's why I appreciate F&S so much more now.

The ONE track that sounds slightly better on digital, at least to my ears, is 'The Process.' but that's only because the initial synth melody that plays in the first 20 seconds seems louder on digital, and I love how dark and unsettling it is.

I listen to a lot of music on my studio monitors but the kick drum in this track keeps sounding like my speakers should cost around $1000 more. It is so sonically perfect.
