It seems you may have uncovered the reason why it's good! The small, small details that suddenly come out ONLY after listening to the tracks more than once. It may seem like it's the same as VHS Head is presenting a certain style, however the layers of depth unfold when you can commit to the songs.
You make a valid point with saying that it can get boring and you don't feel the depth as this happened to me for many albums/artists, but I thought I wouldn't be giving the album an honest chance if I couldn't sit through it a few times. So I have adopted this method for difficult albums. I think if you do like some songs, you owe it to yourself to enjoy the listening experience!
Great new music seems so hard to come by these days, and when I first saw the stylized name on the cover on the net, I was intrigued, but then after listening to it I quietly thought to myself that this was gonna get big. Sure enough, it started off a little slow as most of these low-key artists do, but I've watched the hype start building....many people can't be wrong if they only have one album to go off of (i.e. not hyped because of consumer branding or popularity).

i read on watmm that a fairly obvious sample from 'teen wolf' is lifted for 'heartbeat in the brain'. pretty cool usage. it all fits super snugly. just can't get enough of both of these releases and 'the wizard of speed and time'! fuckin' awesome snippet. i haven't seen that since i was a wee lad. such an entertaining watch though. we used to have a video place named 'movie magic' around the corner from i lived and i distinctly remember seeing this when i was flickin' through the cases along with 'faces of death', 'boxing helena', etc. long, long time ago. bravo, ade. cannot wait for more.

I dunno man, it seems to me like Twoism-era BoC. Assuming VHS Head isn't a pseudonym of a popular producer, he's going to be doing some absolutely insane things in the next few years if he keeps on it. It's a total grower though. Some tracks have a style that I totally wouldn't recommend to most people, but the aesthetic alone allows me to listen happily from end to end whenever I pop it on. Compared to his first EP, I like the organization of this one a lot better. It does have pacing issues, but far less than his previous release. I think he's moving in the right direction.

Love the album. He's great live too, saw him back in February, very much underrated in my eyes.
