link. The synth that comes in at 1:53 doesn't sound too Boardsy to me, but it was uploaded by Hooper Bay.
Sounds pretty cool.... But I don't think we can trust anything without the official stamp at this point.

I might've made some unfounded speculation of my own, regarding the "Text to Hex Converter" page and the video there, but at least some inkling of a connection made sense after we found the text,"HDEuthanasia" in the forum banner.
I really wanted to help out in the mystery, but I am doing nothing more then wasting you guy's time, so I will remain as a forums lurker. I am sorry.

Sounds more like OPN than BOC. Still, very good.

Just a thought: This isn't the end of Boards of Canada. Just the start of a new beginning?
Or maybe they'll just drop off a huge box set and move on with their lives...

Who can tell, really, and that is their choice, entirely, as a fan, I'd welcome them to stick around for another 50 years, but I have to accept their decision whichever it may be.
HOWEVER, they went through moves, life, having kids, etc. and now are coming back with music, I don't think they're going to vanish, but life with family etc takes a real big place.
The simple fact that they haven't vanished I think is cause for great hope that this is a resurgence and not going out with a bang

I'd be fine with a huge box set and then see them retire. Or maybe they will release the new album this summer and repress the other albums this summer, then continue to release unreleased stuff every 6 months. That would be neat.

It's cool man... There's just been a lot of grasping at straws... We're in a holding pattern right now.

Sorry if I seemed like a dismissive jerk by responding like I did; nothing personal. I understand why people would think this is related, and even the BoCPages facebook page brought it up. I'm just failing to imagine Warp and BoC agreeing to tie-in with this movie.

I was thinking it sounds like an OPN cover of "Corsair", myself. I'm doubting it came from Boards themselves because they've used the distinction of "Original" before ("Original Nlogax"), but I take that to mean they've retooled the song completely to make something else with it.

Another long shot:
The TV ad at 1m09s
Could the bright thing seen in the distance be Monument 2 (or another one)? These monument mark the US-Mexico border, and I read somewhere that they are really bright under the sun.
Photos here. Look at the mountains, behind.

I could be wrong, but I think Yermo is about 2 hours north of the border. That's a really interesting article though, thanks for sharing.

Ya know, I was just watching (listening to)
that BBC doc about the Lincolnshire Poacher numbers station and some brainstorming nerves were activated.
I think it would be brilliant if the code solution (like a one-time-pad or key) was found inside the album, because then we'd have to buy it, so that makes the most sense. I also think it would be further brilliant if there were multiple versions, because obviously as soon as it's out, someone is going to share it on the internet immediately and ruin it for everyone else.
This has probably been thought of already, but thoughts keep circling in my brain and I'm too excited about all of this.

What if it's another 8 year wait for the 6th number. Would be funny, no? Am I right, guys?

I would laugh hysterically.
For a decade inside a mental hospital.

That's an interesting idea! Perhaps not hidden in the album, but backmasked into a single? (or similar trick)
