I wouldn't say them liking posts are a secret message, but just them confirming that they are indeed going to release something without spilling the beans. They probably aren't allowed to say anything else. All of the likes were in response to specific comments about a new release. That seems pretty intentional.

I would say ‘them’ liking the posts is even them liking the posts.

Do we think the brothers are even the ones liking the posts? I don’t. Warp would ‘like’ Boards to release an album as much as anybody, it follows they would like the fans asking for it.

Your unwavering dedication to micro-analysing even the tiniest shred of information which could be faintly related to BOC is wild. It must be exhausting. There is no evidence it's them liking those posts, and the only way anyone would know it is, is if they confirmed it. In the same way the only genuine confirmation a new album is "on the way" is when BOC or Warp announce it.

Of all the BoC conspiracy theories about what means or doesn't mean what, this is the one I actually am inclined to believe. Cos yes, on the surface, BoC taking time out of their day to like a few random posts seems bizarre, they have more reason to than people from Warp.

Warp's motivation is making money, they only benefit from BoC putting out music through them, or flogging merch. (The merch is probably doing better numbers nowadays, especially when you factor in the cost of repressing vinyl that they've fucked up the sound quality on the first time around). They put people into marketing BoC when there's something to buy (see the TH ARG), and they'll happily trade on the cultural cache of having them on the roster (see the recent event where they had the XXXXX record on display) but that's about it.

BoC on the other hand, they have whatever their day jobs are nowadays, and music production. Can totally see them firing up instagram once in a while, seeing if anyone has made something cool, liking a few posts and putting the phone down for another few months. I DON'T think there's any numeralogical reasoning behind what they click like on, it's just a heartbeat to say "we're still alive", the minimum viable social media interaction.

Exhausting? Energising rather. Running a fan wiki like bocpages for two decades is based on passion.

Liking which posts, specifically?

Some people think it’s BoC, some people think it’s Warp, either way, if by next year we haven’t had any new product or announcement of a release date I’d argue instagram likes can’t really be considered a newsworthy event

Id actually argue the opposite. It is very much a newsworthy event since we do not know how long it takes them to write an album.

They very well could be waiting on logistics (sampling rights/what have you) and it's taking longer than they planned. The "likes" are an assurance that it will eventually come out. If it drops in the next year or two, the likes were spot on.

If it's an intern from WARP in control of the Insta account, why is the activity so sporadic?

Okay, I can see how it could be the brothers giving the likes. I do agree the likes are an assurance towards more to come, just given the theme of all the likes. I don’t think the date, time, or sporadic nature of the likes is that deep. It can be explained by whoever is clicking like button being on anywhere on the globe, or having more important things to do.

These likes are the most boring and low effort thing they could give us, but at least it’s a pulse. It makes me wish we had a black square to look at

i used to like the secrecy surrounding their album releases, there was a certain magic to the mystery. However after 10 years i think it’s just somewhat lame to keep a loyal fanbase totally in the dark, just to uphold this image of being enigmatic and obscure. You’re happy to take my money once you put new music out, but god forbid putting out even a blip of communication within a 10 year timeframe of what to expect before that. I know i’m probably alone in this, and i’ll still appreciate new music if it ever comes out, but the lack of effort to communicate actually makes me like them less as a band tbh.

I think with BoC their output has quite obviously slowed over time. I imagine in the 90s when they were in their mid to late twenties they could make tracks within weeks/ month. The shock they got having had released MHTRTC spurred them on for geogaddi. After campfire they slowed way down and since TH. They’ve stopped. I just don’t believe their hearts are in this anymore. They’ll be doing something else. Maybe they took up a new hobby? Their kids must be in their early 20s by now. They might even be grandparents? I bet they spend more time in the garden than the studio. Working on that new harvest rather than bringing the BoC project out again.

I understand what you mean, Mr Harry Nutsack. But I want to ask a follow up question, do you produce music? Because if you did, you would know that you never really stop producing music. I would say the brothers don't think right now that anything they are making really fits the vibe of what they are trying to put across. Its like, LP5 is essentially as mythical as Half-Life 3. So imagine how the brothers feel (2, maybe 5) of them compared to Valve Corporation, with 1000 people. That's a lot of weight to be held under just a few Scottish and possibly extraterrestrial heads. You all want a follow up, an extension to the story. But just like with some of my favorite video games, never going to happen, probably won't be that good (Jet Set Radio Future 2).

We kind of get a bit of a fake impression of them slowing down cos remember they went into their warp years with a huge back catalog of unused sketches only some of which we've heard. I mean yeah it's demonstrably been a long time either side of TH. But everyone's gonna work faster just after getting signed with 100 sketches in their back pocket

Whos to say they haven't been shadow producing this entire time? I've been shown some stuff that would make me think otherwise. The production credits also make no sense. Haha!
