Can this be Boards of Canada's farewell? Thoughts?
I dont think so.

My gut feeling says no. I think there's at least an EP coming our way in the not so distant future. And perhaps its title will be, very appropriately, 'Yesterday's Seeds'.

I'm of the opinion that this might well be the last time they release an album of new material. Honestly, I half expected that they never would release a new album, I was more or less clinging to the hope that they might have one day released a bocset with rereleases of their earliest material (and I still hope they will at some point).

It's been so long since we've heard anything from them, and they must have been working on the tracks for this album for a significant time. I think they'll remain relevant for quite some time, but I feel if they were still fully dedicated to creating music they'd be prolific.

If they do release new material post Tomorrow's Harvest, then great.

Why would anyone think that this is the end? I don't see anything that would indicate that they are going to stop making music.

I think that if they can make music while separated from each other (didn't they make this record while living in two separate places?) then they can make music for a long time to come. If they decide to stop then so be it. Its their lives and I can only really be grateful.

I think this album marks a full come back. I don't see any reason to assume it is their last album.

QFT. Absolutely no indication that this is the end of anything other than the wait for the next album.

Agreed, I think it's perplexing that anyone would think that.

These two have been creating music since they were wee boys. It is their life-blood, it's not drudgery to them, it is probably the most enjoyable thing they can think of.

I think we will still have output from them in some form for a long time to come.

You've also got to think about where their art is actually going. The way they have progressed, it would seem quite jarring and inappropriate for them to just end it here.

I might be wrong, but it seemed like merely two weeks ago, many were not at all optimistic at the prospect of new material. Thankfully they were proved wrong, but I don't think this eventual release is necessarily a sign that the duo have more in store for us to come. Either way, we can only speculate.

Surely there's gonna be some collection of old tunes / bocset before the next full-length LP if there ever is one.

It's been confirmed a few times that they've been working on such a release for ages now.

It's been confirmed? Are you sure? For them to release their earliest EPs and albums would really be a dream come true. Even moreso than the announcement of Tomorrow's Harvest, I think. The Old Tunes compilations are all very well, but they're so low-bitrate, disjointed and generally half-baked that I can't enjoy listening any of them in full-length. To hear the (alleged) actual releases from the early days would be something else. Even just a release of Play By Numbers or Hooper Bay would be enough for me to die a happy man. I hope.

On another note, i wonder if this time round, when the brothers open up for interviews/press etc, we will get a video interview with the two? Just a thought!

Very much doubt it. They seem to be getting more mysterious as they get older! Would be cool though.

Yeah one way or another, they would let us know im sure but I cant imagine they would ever officially throw in the towel either

To be honest last night I dreamt of getting trouble ordering it through the bleep shop - then I woke up, very upset aha.
Yeah, it was an EP to be released before the LP, though this is very unlikely. Who knows by the way.

If I were Boards of Canada, I would make music till the day I die.

And adopt an apprentice to learn my skills and methods to pass them onto further generations. please be me.

There will definitely be an extended play. I get the feeling life got in the way or we would have had this album a while ago. Just so long as it isn't like Trans Canada Highway and be just a single, a remix, plus some other stuff. As much as I like the songs on Trans Canada Highway, I want a full extended play like Beautiful Place.

What makes you consider it not a full extended play? I'm just saying, I might agree with you here.

There isn't much to it beyond the single and the remix. Don't get me wrong. I like it, but really, it is just a single.
