I really feel like we need a thread dedicated to this guy.

First off... Something/Anything is an absolute masterpiece. It's honestly one of the most cohesive albums I've ever heard. But each album seems to have its own atmosphere. Todd (the album) was definitely a bit more playful, while A Wizard, A True Star was bordering the esoteric, experimental side of things, etc. He was/is definitely one extremely creative songwriter, and was definitely a production whiz (cue one of any of his synthesizer pieces). His early 70's period is definitely my favorite out of the stuff he's done. Not to say his later stuff was necessarily bad, but I just felt the music kind of got stale when things kind of drifted into the digital age.

Anyone else on here a fan of his music? It'd be nice to get a discussion started.

My hero! I've listened to Something/Anything more than anything else, ever. I recorded it to a cassette for my car and drove around with it for at least 5 whole years. It's still my favorite music, and it still manages to impress the shit out of me after however many hundreds of times I've heard it. For sure the best place to start for anyone new to Todd.

Bearhead, I agree that early 70s Rundgren is the best. How deep have you gone into his later stuff? Have you checked out Healing from 1981? It's worth spending some time with if you haven't already! It's a killer album, not to mention pretty bizarre.
