Okay so, online I found a file called "Boards of Canada - Only Fear Breaks the Silence [2012] [Leaked].zip". I downloaded it straight away to check it out.

Something strange happened though.
I recognized none of the tracks and neither did Shazam...
The track list is as follows:

4 - Twenty
5 - Six Gun
6 - Thing I Missed
7 - Here From The Beginning
8 - Research and Development
9 - Patients
10 - Main Threads
11- Wake on Through
12 - Man is Man Made
13 - All Rise

There was also a track labelled:
4 - Dance For The People Who Stare
This is where it gets interesting, this track came from an album apparently called "New Clear Dawn" (We all remember that, don't we?)

I have no idea whether this is real or fake (probably fake, but still)

Sounds fishy, but I'll check it out.

Track 2 "What Else Could You Do" is in fact "Tal Coat" by Brian Eno.

Well, just by briefly listening to the tracks it's pretty obvious it isn't BoC. The first track "Autumn Dawn" has a very similar chord progression to "Svefn-g-englar" by Sigur Rós. If this were truly BoC then I don't think they would copy a song's progression to that extreme. Some tracks sound quite nice, actually, but I'd prefer to find their real names.

the new clear dawn one is probably not BoC
i can't imagine them using a sound that similar to a harmonica

Well.. At least we know it is fake

6th track is AB/7A by Throbbing Gristle, which is a track I've ALWAYS thought was extremely Boc-like but nobody ever felt really the same with me. Glad to know I'm not alone!

Couple other also sounded familiar but can't put my finger on those..

Oh, and track 4 "Twenty" is actually "House Of Abin'adab" from A Few Old Tunes. And "All Rise" sounds awful, definitely not BoC's style at all. Sounds like the theme song for some cheesy 80's show. The person who put this fake album together could have tried harder to make it convincing

Man, those are some terrible fake BoC song titles. Not a one of them sounds even vaguely BoC-ish.

Dammit. I came in all excited that someone had found Lake BoC.

Note to self. Must read more carefully.

The title is awful too. It's like they weren't even trying. Maybe they weren't.
